UR since 10/20, similar situation international wiseEnglishApplicant2017 wrote:Also UR1 since 10/30! I'm an international applicant with no GPA so that might also factor in. I have to say, though, that I've seen very few people who went complete after us be admitted. There seem to be one or two 175+/3.9+ who have but they are very much the exception rather than the norm.ToddCraines wrote:Checking in! NYU is by far my top choice, been UR1 since 10/30 so I'm getting pretty antsy! URM as well, not sure how that might factor into my decision time. Let's just hope for news in the next week or so.

Re: NYU c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
Has anyone applied ED heard back? I was so sure I wanted to go to nyu if going to the states at all, and now I’m worried about the longterm given the recent political landscape.
I have Canadian citizenship. My grandmother is American and all her other kids except for my mom are American too. Long story, but basically. I have no way of getting citizenship other than marriage/the employer sponsor route, but I have an American co-signer for loans, and won’t be paying housing/board bc I’ll be staying with family. Just worried about the longterm, raising a family in USA, etc. Compared to Canada.
Anyone have any thoughts/insight? New York City’s been the dream since I was a kid (I’m there every summer and every Christmas), but I’ve been feeling more and more like Canada’s a better place to live overall, even though the pay is higher in the USA and American law/politics is what I wanted to end up in.

Sent 11/13. Complete on 11/20. Still UR1.
My numbers are borderline and I probably would have no chance of getting in RD. Of course, YMMV!

Is there any meaning to being UR1 vs. UR2? I know people have mentioned that timing of UR dates do not imply much, but does changing review dates at all make a difference (hopefully, this makes sense)?surfsup12345 wrote:I applied ED. This is a pure guess but I imagine they have two reviewers read through your app. Once you get to UR2, usually a decision comes out pretty fast after that. Either because your application sits there for a while before the first reviewer is done reading it. Or they just wait until the end to upload it into the system. Again, I'm just speculating right now.itslilbub wrote:Is there any meaning to being UR1 vs. UR2? Hey guys,
I think I made a mistake applying ED to NYU. I did my undergrad in NYUAD and I just love the school and it's been a dream of mine to be in NYU law for the past 6 years, but now I am being told that ED isn't the best in terms of scholarships/financial aid. Did I make a mistake?????

Ahh, thank you, that makes sense! I wasn’t sure if it was just one person who was assigned to a specific app rereading or potentially two different people. Thanks!!surfsup12345 wrote:This is a pure guess but I imagine they have two reviewers read through your app. Once you get to UR2, usually a decision comes out pretty fast after that. In short, yes. You won't be receiving much or any merit aid from NYU. They still consider you for need-based aid AFAIK.albloomofficial wrote:Hey guys,

Ugh... just got a call from Madison Square Garden of all places (I went to one hockey game last year while in town). I don't think the guy on the other end truly understood the disappointment in my voice.
