Can someone who did the in person interview please explain what it was like? Ie How long, how formal it was, etc. If private messaging is preferable please do so. Thanks. Appreciate any help.

If you go a few pages back in this thread (to pages 8-10?) there are several accounts of the in person interview, including my own.

Can someone please explain what this informal meeting is about ? Does everyone on the waitlist get asked this or is this something different?

Im confused as to why they continue to keep me on their waitlist. I haven't sent a LOCI, but thinking about it.

On last year's second waitlist notification email they said that they "anticipate extending up to 20 additional offers". Do we think it's a good or bad sign that they didn't specify a number this time?

Unless they sent another email detailing the numbers at a later date, I think it just goes to show there is some uncertainty due to possible WL movement in HCCN. Either way, I think it's good if you're flexible and can accept later/last minute, but I think it's neutral otherwise.

If you would actually consider going if admitted, you should go for it. If you would not go if admitted under any circumstance, you shouldn't; it just bogs things down for everyone else.

I don't think many of the schools have really dropped people from WLs yet. I think you'll start to see that happening soon.

I can't help but think they and NYU are waiting on Columbia to move this week and next. I truly believe that will shrink the WLs at P and N, generating movement throughout June and possibly early July - when we should get the 3rd update with an estimate of the remaining number of seats, down to the specifics (like last year's ~20 clause).

Yet Columbia is waiting on Harvard? And NYU is waiting on Columbia, and Penn is waiting on NYU. Oh frak, why can't it all happen at once?

If you have questions to ask them, you should go; you could also do it over the phone or skype if you're too far to travel at a decent rate. But if you're asking whether it will boost your chances, I'm inclined to say no, based solely on this year's data. One person who did an informational meeting was admitted after the meeting, but had already received a feeler a week prior - which was the case for all applicants admitted from the wait list this year (feeler one week, admission the next).

Anecdotally, one person reported two years ago that they feel their meeting made all the difference and that they were actually offered admission DURING the meeting. Not sure if it was a flame or if this story holds any value in the current climate of this particular cycle, but I'm just sharing the info I gather at work while I'm - you guessed it - avoiding all possible interaction with any element of said work.

Thanks for the detailed response! I really don't have any questions that I can't find answers to on my own, so the informal session may just make me look bad lol.

I think there's been movement all along, just quietly. From personal experience and reading back in the thread a bit, feeler calls seem to go out on Tuesdays for the most part.

At least from my informational meeting, it did not seem like Penn Law suspected they would ever have a 'wave' in the way some other larger schools may have down the line or had earlier in the process. I imagine that is a consequence of being a highly ranked small school as opposed to a highly ranked large school like NYU or CLS.
