Kendrick's creativity in not only his variety of rhyme schemes, and subject matter, but the producers he works with (from abstract electronic artists like FlyLo and funk artists like Thundercat) I think really pushes the genre. To do that and also maintain mainstream relevance also really sets him apart as an artist. I'm not a huge Drake fan (mainly because I get told at least a few times a week that I look like the dude
), but from what I do hear, I don't think he has that level of experimentation and depth in his music. That's fine though because I don't think that's what he's aiming for either.
