I got this email as well but mine said "Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were memorable and restful. The spring semester has begun here at Emory Law, and we have started sending out our first wave of invitations to join the Class of 2020. You have spent valuable time crafting the perfect application, and we feel a strong obligation to provide you a comprehensive and deliberate review. I sincerely appreciate your patience.

Below are some scholarship opportunities you may want to explore and some stories about our community. If there is anything we can do to assist you, please do not hesitate to reach me at jdadmission@emory.edu. I look forward to seeing you in person soon."

The I look forward to seeing you in person is making me excited that I may have been accepted.

I just received the same e-mail. As much as I'd like to read into the "I look forward to seeing you in person soon" in a slightly larger font than the rest of the e-mail's text, I think they sent the email to most, if not all, applicants. I submitted my app at the end of September so I've been patiently waiting since then. Cheers to hearing good news sometime soon.

I asked my cousin, who applied to Emory last year, and she said that they sent the SAME exact email (word for word but with Class of 2019 instead of 2020) last year at 1/22. She received notification of her waitlist in the middle of March.

Basically, it's a generic email that they send out to everyone. Extremely annoying with how it's worded. They should just make a status checker.

Yep, got that exact same email too. Now I'm just depressed after getting excited for about a minute while reading too much into it.

I guess I'll just send admissions an email saying something along the lines of "Thanks for the head's up. I look forward to enrolling at Emory this coming fall..." Two can play this game.

Google is way smarter than us desperate hopefuls. It sent the mail right into the promotions tab. Nothing in that tab is ever useful.

"I am delighted to inform you that I've submitted my application to Emory Law and am embarking on a 1 week vacation to Costa Rica in February. My family is doing great as well - Darryl got a new job working at PetCo! I appreciate your continuing to review my application and I very much look forward to paying your tuition deposit in the coming months.

Below are the link to my former Myspace page and some short stories that I've written about my beloved family. Since we are all incredibly tight-knit I thought it would be appropriate that you get to know them as well - since you'll see them all during Accepted Students' Day (Yes, darrly already took time off from work).

Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon.

99% true but I've actually received a couple of acceptance letters that went straight to the promotions tab haha

In such case, my guess is those were the acceptances you don't really care about :D

Perfect response. They might send you back an acceptance on view of the sense of humour

I've also had acceptances go to the promotions tab, as well as a few status checker emails. But you're correct in that they weren't schools I cared about too much

I got my admission letter on Monday, and the email i received today was actually worded a bit differently, for what it's worth.

It began: "Congratulations again on your admission to Emory Law. From time-to-time, I will send information about scholarships and on-campus jobs. These additional financial aid opportunities (listed below) are great options to consider as your plan for your time at Emory Law..."

I've also already been admitted and got an email starting that way.

Same. Are some of you getting the email without that wording? If so, that's cruel.
