They said if you don't hear from scholly by 3/1, it means no money because the fund dries by then.

No, "the fund" is not a real thing, and if it were, it has an infinite depth.

What are your grounds for saying that? There may not be a literal fund since what they are giving out is discounts not money, but there is presumably a limit to how many scholarships they give out before they would be taking in too little tuition.

You said the fund dries up on 3/1. When $500,000 of allocated scholarship money becomes available due to people who withdraw in March/April, you don't think they re-use it? Additionally, let's say the law school plans to hand out 2 million in scholarships to their matriculants. They're not gonna say, "hmmm idk, this candidate is above both are 75ths and really prefers Iowa over WUSTL, but if we give them an additional 5k/yr more scholarship , we'll be at $2.015M. That totally ruins our books!"

You aren't 100% incorrect, but the misnomer of "no more scholarship money" needs to end.

Not true. They actually handed out way more scholly offers than their fund expecting only 20-30% people will take the money. So most of the "returned money" are not reusable because they were supposed to be returned as oversold tickets

Again, I have to ask for the source or the citation. You are speaking with such absolutes that I am curious if you are an Adcomm or just merely a run-of-the-mill psychic.

He's using logic, and it's sound logic fwiw. No need to pretend like he's speaking blasphemy.

Checking in! Admitted with generous scholarship. Was set on moving to DC from Texas, but with the offer it is awfully hard to pass up. Made my seat deposit, but still relatively undecided.

I think it means that when they go back to look at the wait list, they look at the people on the "preliminary waiting list" first

When did you guys receive your scholarship offers?

I have received very generous scholarship offers from peer schools and T14 and nothing from Iowa so far. I have been admitted since the end of January.

Same... kind of in a little bit of shock -- 164, 3.8+, and I also have family in the area. Ouch.

From my experience, Iowa really reads beyond numbers. I was admitted below both medians and I am not URM

I got mine about three weeks after the admittance. I think they said it should arrive no later than four weeks after acceptance in the original e-mail.

Who all paid the first deposit last weekend? I did, and I am curious if Iowa is going to reach out with an admitted students FB or anything?

Go Hawks!

I committed a couple of weeks ago (paid both deposits), and withdrew from other schools. I searched FB and found that some previous years seemed to have "Class Of" pages, but some did not.

Hey,

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this in this forum but I just graduated from Iowa Law in May and am happy to answer questions about Iowa City (Iowa in General, I'm from Des Moines), housing, my experience at Iowa or the law school specifically (although I don't know much about scholarships or admissions decisions which understandably seem like the hot topic right now) I'm happy to answer any of your questions.

Also, if anyone has already decided on Iowa and you need apartment stuff, I'm selling a bunch of my furniture and Craigslist

http://iowacity.craigslist.org/fuo/6213752294.html

Good Luck to those awaiting admissions or $$$$ decisions.
