They say in their status checker after being admitted that they don't send notification that you won't receive any money.

They said if you don't hear from scholly by 3/1, it means no money because the fund dries by then.

Just wanted to let you guys know I got accepted on 2/6 and just got the scholarship email today, so I don't think it's true that if you didn't hear back by 3/1, then you're not getting anything. I also got nearly full tuition, so there's definitely still a chance for people.

Emailed directly with Dean of Fin. Aid. and was told similar to above; scholarship committee met last week and funds have dried up until after their first deposit deadline (April 1st?). Though what posted above is saying directly contradicts what the dean said so who knows.

Got accepted 2/28. No word on when I would hear about scholarship info. For those who have gotten $$$, what kind of packages is Iowa offering? Full/50/25? Are they usually stingy with the money or do a lot of their students usually get scholarships?

Based of LSN, they are stingy

162/3.9, slightly above average softs, strong PS: Full-Tuition + guaranteed GA position for 2L and 3L

I am not sure about the accuracy of LSN self-reporting, but here is the ABA-required 509 for 2016. It looks like nearly 60% of the 2015 cohorts got at least half tuition. This is obviously backwards looking, so I am not sure what the future holds.

Stingy is in the eye of the beholder, so YMMV.

Iowa is not stingy. Almost everyone received some money, and many get over half and fulls. Keep in mind when looking at the data that Iowa offers in state tuition to many OOS students as part of their package so the numbers are artificially low

No, "the fund" is not a real thing, and if it were, it has an infinite depth.

What are your grounds for saying that? There may not be a literal fund since what they are giving out is discounts not money, but there is presumably a limit to how many scholarships they give out before they would be taking in too little tuition.

You said the fund dries up on 3/1. When $500,000 of allocated scholarship money becomes available due to people who withdraw in March/April, you don't think they re-use it? Additionally, let's say the law school plans to hand out 2 million in scholarships to their matriculants. They're not gonna say, "hmmm idk, this candidate is above both are 75ths and really prefers Iowa over WUSTL, but if we give them an additional 5k/yr more scholarship , we'll be at $2.015M. That totally ruins our books!"

You aren't 100% incorrect, but the misnomer of "no more scholarship money" needs to end.

Not true. They actually handed out way more scholly offers than their fund expecting only 20-30% people will take the money. So most of the "returned money" are not reusable because they were supposed to be returned as oversold tickets

Again, I have to ask for the source or the citation. You are speaking with such absolutes that I am curious if you are an Adcomm or just merely a run-of-the-mill psychic.

The AdComm is telling people who ask about scholarships that they aren't giving any more $ out until the seat deposit deadline passes. They seem to be pretty firm about it, but, who knows, someone may be able to move them.
