Made an account just now to contribute! In yesterday via e-mail, applied 11/15, went complete (w/secondary app) 11/23. Also curious about whether the scholly in status checker takes one out of the running for Chancellor's...

Just gonna throw this question out there again...
How long did it take you all to get the supplemental app email from when you submitted your app/received status checker email?

Congrats everyone! Is UNC the top choice for any of you who just got in? I will definitely be in the class of 2020! If you have any questions about Chapel Hill in general, let me know! I actually live on campus at UNC in the student family housing.

In with $$. THE STATUS CHECKER $ AMOUNT IS YEALY. Confirmed this with an admissions officer then got an email confirming it from the associate dean (Bianca I think?). Very strongly considering.

It's up there for me for sure! I applied ED to W&M for the full scholly, but if that doesn't happen UNC is next along with MN. I will definitely need to come visit. I've still never set foot on the campus but I've heard only great things (apart from the law building itself haha). I might hit you up for advice then. Looking forward to hopefully meeting tls'ers at admit days.mjm1315 wrote:Congrats everyone! Is UNC the top choice for any of you who just got in? I will definitely be in the class of 2020! I just received an email that my application was placed on hold. Is that any better than getting waitlisted? Any tips from anyone?

Didn't they give you a decision deadline? (ie "you will be notified by Month, day.")pirate101 wrote:I just received an email that my application was placed on hold. Is that any better than getting waitlisted? Any tips from anyone?
If not, I'd guess that's very similar to waitlist

It says I could be accepted at any time. Also states that if I am not admitted or rejected by 4/14 I'll be invited to join the waitlist. So I assume it's technically better than going straight to waitlist, but wasn't sure if anyone knew of any stats on hold from previous cycles.SeanORaff33 wrote:Didn't they give you a decision deadline? Re: UNC c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
I am confused.
I was actually accepted last cycle with LSAT below and GPA around the median. This was my top 3 choices, and I matriculated at UNC but ended up withdrawing from it due to schedule conflict (they emailed me since I never attended orientation, I replied back telling them I'm sorry but I won't be able to attend this year).
I reapplied this cycle, with higher LSAT from the retake (75th percentile) and GPA around the median. This was supposed to be my super safety school. But I just received waitlist notice via email today.
Could this be because they considered me as a high-risk candidate? I am in shock right now.

Did you ever hear back about ED and W&M? I just got my offer, it made me more interested in UNC tbh.Giro423 wrote:AgreedSeanORaff33 wrote:We're gonna half to come up with some kind of a secret symbolGiro423 wrote:It's up there for me for sure! Re: UNC c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
Hey Sean, I was accepted under non-binding regular decision at w&m. I'm actually ok with that though, I'm excited to decide between there, UNC and Minnesota. If I don't get scholly's that bring coa down to around in-state at UNC I probably will be a heel next year.SeanORaff33 wrote:Did you ever hear back about ED and W&M? Re: UNC c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
I e-mailed the admissions staff about this and they indicated that they said receiving a scholarship does not mean you are out of the running for Chancellor's. They haven't gone through the process yet and, if you are picked for the scholarship, they would just increase your award. I think online it says the application deadline to be considered for Chancellors is December 31 so maybe more information will come after the new year.dianersg wrote:In yesterday via email! Does anyone know if receiving a scholarship amount means I am not being considered for Chancellor's? I am pretty sure that my numbers would at least guarantee consideration, but the status checker shows a $17,500 per year scholly.
