I would say feedback to admissions would be appreciated so they could make it better, but at the same time it's awkward to give feedback before the process is over. Also awkward if you don't matriculate, so I guess on the off chance you go to your 16th-favorite school they'll hear your complaints.

Also re: interview discussion, it's hard to know where the fault lies. I've been emailing my interviewees the same day I get the request, but I know not everyone can do that all the time. And I don't know how long they waited before I was assigned the interview. It could be the case that they waited three weeks before I was assigned the interview, so even though I responded as soon as I got it, they still waited a long time. I haven't ever asked my interviewees how long it took from their perspective. I'll ask the next one, I guess. In other cases, perhaps admissions forwarded it to someone right away, but the interviewer just didn't get to it for a while. My guess is the latter is the most common.

Really the only way to improve the system (without changing the entire interviewing scheme) would be if it's admissions that's taking their sweet time assigning the interviews. Because you're never going to be able to predict attorneys' schedules, and you can't really expect very interviewer to provide (or admissions to keep) a calendar of their upcoming conflicts.

So yes, it sucks to have to wait longer than you should, by try to take it in stride. Odds are, a few weeks delay in the interview won't delay your decision all that much.

If I had to guess, I'd say the fault is in their way of doling out interviews. You get "assigned" an interviewee and then x amount of time to accept the interview. Maybe they should just have a pool of interviewees available at all time and you can go in and pick one. I'd gladly interview once a week if they'd let me.

@ArkLaw and @Mlk&Ckies - I really appreciate the thoughtful insights and suggestions for improvement. This seems to be a pervasive perception, so I am glad you both understand our perspective. :)

Is there any confirmation of your interviewer submitting their evaluation post-interview (i.e. a status checker update or email)?

I had my interview two weeks ago. I was lucky enough to interview with the admissions coordinator for Vanderbilt. My hope is that this results in a more expedient timeline in my case vs having interviewed with an alumnus.

The alumnus I interviewed with emailed me when he submitted it but there was no email directly from Vanderbilt.

call-me-bubbles wrote:That's one major improvement I think Vanderbilt's admissions process could benefit from: including "Receipt of interview report" on the status checker. I, too, am in the position of not knowing whether my interviewer actually submitted their report. I e-mailed Admissions to make sure, but no response there, either.

I think that would be ideal for pretty much every school that offers interviews. I haven't seen any interview confirmations from any school that offers an alumni interview, and it makes it super difficult to determine whether your application is actually complete without hounding the admissions team :?

I interviewed at the end of September and still haven't heard back... interview went really well and my numbers are in range. Is it safe to say my interviewer never submitted his report? Getting kind of nervous now because I see from this thread I would have likely heard back by now...

I had an interview in mid-October, before I submitted my application later that month. Just got my in email two days ago. If you submitted your application before having an interview, my interviewer told me that they would hold your application until your interview report was completed. Try not to worry!

I interviewed someone the second week of October and submitted it the same day. They haven't gotten a decision yet either.

So I submitted my app back in October and just had my interview today. I'm hoping my interviewer submits my report quickly so my application can finally be reviewed.

I applied in mid October, interviewed before Halloween, and haven't heard back. GPA is between median and 25th, LSAT is above 75th.

I see a few people with 25th GPA & 75th LSAT's getting accepted, I have the opposite circumstance, 25th LSAT & 75th GPA. Wondering if anyone has had any luck being accepted with this or knows if it's possible?
