Anyone else get a merit award interview besides the above poster?

Have not seen an answer to this but also curious about how serious Vanderbilt is with the disclaimer about this offer being the best offer.Chipotle85 wrote:Has anyone tried negotiating already?

What do people (more specifically, women) typically wear to asd? I'll be attending the April session, but I'm curious to hear from those attending next week.

I tried and was very, very politely shot down. The Financial Aid office said it doesn't compete with other school offers when I inquired about negotiating. Also the first round of Merit Scholar interviews has already been sent out.speedofthought wrote:I tried and was very, very politely shot down. Withdrew today due to a generous, but lower
Than hoped for, scholarship.
Hope I freed up a spot for somebody here!

Has anyone who didn't receive a scholarship offer when they were initially released received one since then?

Jeez. I'm already losing it on week 9. I'd love to be admitted obviously but at this point I just want to know so I can start getting excited about another option of it doesn't work out with Vandy!floatie wrote:I freaking hope so...I'm about to go on week 14 of not hearing anythingBostonOrBust wrote:There's gotta be a wave of decisions today. Seems like they've released a lot of decisions around the 17ths of months. So maybe next week if not today!

This may have already been discussed but is there a consensus on sending in an unsolicited "why Vanderbilt"? Vandy is the last school I am waiting on and, given a recent string of rejections, I have the need to do something. I think I can give a fairly decent pitch on why I would like to attend. Thoughts?

I sent an unsolicited one a couple weeks after my app because I started my app cycle after the deadline to request an interview and didn't want to be hurt by that. Can't say if it's helpful or hurtful as I'm still waiting, just that it's something that I (and others) have done, so it's not totally unprecedented.cam1992 wrote:This may have already been discussed but is there a consensus on sending in an unsolicited "why Vanderbilt"? A good general rule may be that it's never a bad idea to show interest. As long as it's honest, well written, and somewhat brief (mine was about a page) I think you're fine.

Yeah. =( Can't really stay on any waitlists anyway because I have a significant other who will need a decision soon so he can start his job hunt. Hoping for a yes or a "put me out of my misery." Above all hoping it's soon.Stylnator wrote:+1 Week 9BostonOrBust wrote:Jeez. I'm already losing it on week 9. Hello. Does anyone know when Vanderbilt determines need based aid awards? I received my merit scholarship and am really close to being able to attend but am looking for ways to supplement it so I can commit. Does the scholarship award (emailed) already include any need-based aid as well?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
