Withdrew my application and, hopefully, freed up some space for folks who are willing to attend paying sticker :D .
Was offered nothing v. six-figure scholly at top 10 when I first withdrew. They replied my email of withdrawal saying that they were still willing to "consider me for a scholarship." Tho I insisted my withdrawal anyway, I believe for those who were offered nothing def contact them. They are very open for scholly negotiation.

Is there any advantage to waiting to begin negotiations? I'm thinking along the lines of waiting for them to get nervous about yield protecting, is that a risky strategy?

How did you go about asking them? I don't want to sound entitled, but I'd really like to know haha. Also, did you contact Dean Schwartz directly, or the general admissions email address? Thanks!

I submitted the necessary forms for need-based aid but it seems like the max you can get from that is $21K (per year I think) and then it may reduce your merit aid. Should I:

(1) contact them now with my current offers and ask to negotiate (maybe mention I applied for need-based as well);
(2) wait and see what my need-based aid offer is before letting them know about my other offers;
or (3) wait to hear back about other offers / decisions?

It looks like 110K is the max from UCLA anyways (at least so far), so I'm not sure if (3) would really help.

FYI THE 21K number is for all three years, a total of 21k is the max you can get for three years. Also, I might wait till all your offers some in and then throw all or the biggest of them at them... thats what I am doing!

That's not true. I got more than double 21k in total need-based aid.

"UCLA School of Law has a generous need-based grant program providing significant assistance to domestic students with financial need. Under this program, students may qualify for up to $21,000 -- protecting students with the greatest need from having to assume still larger burdens. The total amount of grant aid varies from student to student. The grant aid award is for all three years and there is no need to reapply in future years."

Sorry, I guess I didn't interpret this right. I read it to mean $21000 is the max award, and the award is the total for all three years... maybe it renews every year in the same amount... they did not make that clear, but thanks for correcting me! Good to know, since I will be applying for need aid.

No worries! When I originally read that quote I figured that the $21,000 total was the max need-based award too. I was surprised when I got a larger offer. I feel like they could have definitely made their statement a bit easier to understand.

My scholarship email was apparently lost en route to me somehow. Definitely worth following up if you haven't heard anything.

I'm international as well (GPA AA), went complete around the same time and only heard back yesterday. So should be coming soon!
