Hmmm. I may try and angle for a little bit more money, but it doesn't surprise the UF would be a bit more stingy with money given the perception they try to create around the school as a whole. In all likelihood I'll be going to Tallahassee anyways.l3g@l33s3 wrote:I got a full ride at FSU and 85% at UFJaxBeachLaw wrote:Accepted but disappointed with my scholarship offer.
FSU offers a full ride, UF only 65%. As a Gator undergrad I may not be spending any more time in Gainesville...

So is it safe to say everyone that's been accepted so far is above both 75%s?

Nope! Not me.. LSAT above 75%.. GPA slightly below 50% if I remember the numbers right.. Was offered ~65% tuitionDoesthenamematter wrote:So is it safe to say everyone that's been accepted so far is above both 75%s?

Is the 65% scholarship the Dean's Scholarship? And the 85% the President's Scholarship?

Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I would e-mail them and use the FSU offer to negotiate. Last cycle UF initially only offered me 25% when I had a 3.0 and a 166 but I was able to negotiate that up to 75% before retaking. After getting a 170 on my retake, I was able to negotiate it up to 85%. FSU was unwilling to budge higher than 75%. You're well above UF's 75th percentile for LSAT and at median for their GPA, I don't think it would be too difficult to get more money. Just explain that you would prefer to go to UF over FSU but can't justify paying approximately $8,000 more per year in tuition.JaxBeachLaw wrote:Hmmm. Submitted yesterday (11/22), received today (11/23), and it's probably not going to go complete until FSU decides to send over official documentation from a damn drinking under 21 ticket I got in Tallahassee, which FSU put me on conduct probation for. FSU and UF are the only schools I've come across that require official documentation for character & fitness issues.

Got accepted to UF and FSU, both full ride. FSU was end of October, UF was beginning of November. LSAT/GPA > 75%

Last year, I sent an email to the dean of admissions and his assistant emailed me back to set up a time for a brief telephone conference (basically to see how genuinely interested I was in UF). I don't know if the new dean of admissions is also gonna have phone conferences like that, but just send an email to heraudaz wrote:Anyone know the process for scholarship negotiation?

Were you successful in your negotiations? And did you use offers from other FL schools as leverage? I will most likely be negotiating with UF on the scholarship I was offered and just want to know what the best strategy is.evanesco wrote:Last year, I sent an email to the dean of admissions and his assistant emailed me back to set up a time for a brief telephone conference (basically to see how genuinely interested I was in UF). Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
When I sent my initial email, I included how much I had been offered by FSU in comparison since FSU had offered a significantly higher amount. Then during the call, the dean asked me how much it would take for me to go there instead of FSU. I asked them to match FSU's offer but they were unable to do that due to funds (which I kind of expected), so he asked me the next best amount which they ended up agreeing to.stratton_oakmont wrote:Were you successful in your negotiations? Should I call the admissions office about my package? I was admitted November 21 and it says my package sent November 22, but nothing has come in the mail.

Same here, I am not too concerned as UF is not very high on my list, but I do not know what happens next.mikewazoski wrote:Yeah my file just switched from "Under Review" to "Review completed-No Decision made" I am so confused

Just called admissions office today and she replied: "What this means is that your application is officially reviewed and now will be compared to other applications already completed as well as those coming in. We do welcome more material; however, that is not necessary. You can expect to hear back anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months." Idk if this helpsjag13 wrote:Same here, I am not too concerned as UF is not very high on my list, but I do not know what happens next.mikewazoski wrote:Yeah my file just switched from "Under Review" to "Review completed-No Decision made" I am so confused

Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Hey all,
I was accepted off a hold last month, but I didn't get any scholarship letters via email or in my box (loved the box though). I have a few questions:
1. It says Here
https://www.law.ufl.edu/life-at-uf-law/ ... ips-grants
that merit aid decisions are processed in December. However earlier in this thread people reported getting their scholarship info with their box/via email. If I had been awarded a scholarship, would it be with the box, or do they give them out later?
2. This ties back into question #1. I emailed dean Byrd regarding negotiations (because right now I'm assuming I dont have a scholarship) and I haven't heard back at all. I attached my 75% FSU scholarship for leverage. It seems odd that I would get 75% at FSU, and nothing at UF. Should I be directing my emails to financial aid? Does Dean Byrd have an assistant that I should be emailing? Is two weeks a reasonable amount of time to wait for a response?

My box had the scholarship offer included in the general acceptance letter.zerato5 wrote:If I had been awarded a scholarship, would it be with the box, or do they give them out later?

That was fast! Yesterday afternoon my UG finally sent over the paper work UF needed for my file to go complete and my status changed to UR this morning.
How long did it take for most of you to get decision after going UR?
