lmao I was more just making a point, going purely off of that graph might be misleading. If they are only at the top of the graph due to 5-10 students

i mean 5-10 students is still 5+% of your class, that still says something about how well you, as a school, retain your class.

True. I'd imagine WashU lures some kids for the money, but they wanted to be T14 and realize after a year that theyre not willing to give that up.

Yeah, I imagine a certain portion of WUSTL 1Ls are splitters with an axe to grind who believe they deserved better

i guess, but that sounds like a personal problem for those students, not really washu's fault.

That's what I'm saying though. It's hard to tell what's actually indicative of WashU's quality as a school, and what's a result of their awkward in-between ranking and geographical location.

it's a quality school with a beautiful campus, that has some big names on the faculty, and has put 75% of their class into jobs, 30% of those being BIGLAW. also i liked everyone i met at ASW.

By the way, by this I mean, WashU will cost me less than UCLA but I'm not sure now what to do considering those transfer stats

what is concerning about those transfer stats? their 509 says 13 people transferred out last year. It doesn't seem like a huge deal to me.

I think those stats don't really matter, except as a warning not to go solely for the money if that's not enough for you.

Also, it's worth noting how cheap St Louis is to live in. You will have a lot less financial stress during those three years.

1) its definitely no secret that WashU has a rep for having students gun to transfer out. 2) that transfer rate is down like 10% from where it was a few years ago. 3) i got the sense from actually speaking with students that WashU is a very friendly environment these days. 4) what a weird thing to factor into your decision.

No yeah, I appreciate all that info and yeah I get that. It's just worrying me because I think UCLA is a great school too and I'm trying to decide whether I love it enough and it's a good enough school to justify 70,000-100000 more in total cost of attendance than Wash U. So when you see things that are a bit worrisome about people potentially being unhappy about their choice you have to at least think about it.

it really boils down to location preferences and how much they are worth to you. Also, USC is fairly generous compared to UCLA in case you applied there as well

It did the same with me, and I also got in at UCLA.

well shoot. WashU placed me on hold and I got into a t6 so I guess everything is a crapshoot. I didn't even apply to UCLA because I thought the money was bad there

Don't know if I want to live in St. Louis, don't know how easy it would be to come back to the east coast, would miss my life here, would miss my hobbies here, think DC might be a better environment for me, etc

Those are all valid concerns. Do you have a better option?

Edit: visiting the school helped me a lot
