The only question that caught me off guard was, "So...you live in ____. You went to ___ for undergrad. Why not ____ for law school?"

I felt like they were on to me lol.

Ha :) I think I may have something similar to that. Thanks for sharing!

The question that caught me off guard was, roughly, "you've done so much, especially in light of X, (pulling from resumé and personal statement, respectively), how did you do it?" I was flustered and basically said "idk." As others have said, weirder questions will probably come from your specific application materials.

They asked me what types of challenges I expected to face in Law School because I wrote on my personal statement about overcoming language barriers and cultural identity to become a successful student. I'd honestly look at your application and try to identify possible questions, like location (as someone above said), challenges you've faced, your diversity statement if you have one, etc. They are likely to know small details about your application so I'd expect very direct questions in addition to the basic "Why Law/Why WUSTL".

Yeah, I was asked a lot about my UG and major. My app showed a lot of dedication to a particular field that has nothing to do with law, and my interviewer was particularly interested in why I was going to law school instead of working in that field

That seems like a such a positive interview question :) I guess I really do have to take another look at my personal statement. I was kind of hoping never to have to loo at it again...

I've been out of school for a while and focused on something not at all law related so I'm definitely putting this question down as one I'll get :) Thank you for sharing!

It was a very positive interview- I was just flustered by the praise (it was my first question). Definitely reread your personal statement and resumé and try to predict questions!

I got my scholarship offer! Scholar in Law for $60k- a little less than I'd hoped for, but about what I expected. (3.85/161)

For those of you still waiting to hear back- I hadn't heard for 4 weeks after my interview, so I sent in an LoCI and was admitted two business days later (2/28). Now, a week and a half later, I'm in with scholly! Definitely write an LoCI if you have something compelling (Why WUSTL, update on life, etc.)! PM me if you have questions.

How many times did peoples' status date change before they got the email? I went UR around the end of January and my status date changed yesterday but haven't received a decision today.

If they've already allocated a lot of money to you but you know that you're not interested, you should withdraw so that it can be redistributed.

You can't use it tor negotiation if you withdraw.

also it's usually not redistributed. schools offer way more than they have in scholarship money because they know a significant amount of what they offer will not be accepted. So if one person turns down a full ride, that money won't be redistributed to someone else

Why not? The school that you're negotiating with doesn't need to know that you've withdrawn.

Anyone have examples of people getting an interview and not getting an acceptance? I've scrolled around here for a bit trying to find instances of this but haven't found much. Anyone have any insight?
