For anyone trying to negotiate with Cornell: don't feel too bad if it doesn't work out. I tried to negotiate with an offer from a higher ranked school that was 3.5x what Cornell offered. No dice. Checked TLS that same morning and read that someone was similarly rejected trying to negotiate with a Darrow

So interesting. A bit early to negotiate, no?

oh wow, I hoped to negotiate but I feel lucky they gave me what they gave me, I have nothing from other T14 and Cornell also managed to offer me more than T20 schools..

Wow seems like a lot of schools taking the hard no negotiation stance this year.

It appears the in-person interviews that were going to be scheduled for CA were canceled with no intention of rescheduling them. I'm guessing this is bad news for people on reserve.

The dean mentioned this to me. They were cancelled because of low interest in attending the admitted student receptions. Not really bad news.

Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but several people on the East Coast who were on reserve and interviewed in person were offered admission a few weeks later. With no interviews of any kind scheduled for people on reserve on the West Coast, I don't see how it's anything but a disadvantage.

If you had one scheduled, try reaching out to ask for a Skype interview.

Did anyone have a video recording interview? I heard they ask some questions about current events and political issues.
What kinds of written questions on social issues do they ask?

It's all really random, there's no way to prepare for it. Don't worry though, just answer articulately, even if you're not too familiar with the issue. I actually found the interview fun, nothing to worry about.

I've been "ready for review" for over a month and a half so just wondered if this was the same as "in review" (yes I have read the "what to expect" post). I just want to know if I need to call admissions or if I'm being neurotic. Thanks :)

No need to call. 'Ready to review' is the standard status for everyone before a decision is made.

Any idea if Cornell will be having more reserve interviews soon? May-June seems so far away.

The reserve interviews scheduled for CA were canceled and they said in their e-mail there was no intention of rescheduling them at this time, nor were Skype interviews available.

Cancelled? That doesn't sound good.
