Where do those numbers about interviews and admits come from?

I feel that my quick turnaround from going complete to JS1 is because of my status as international. I feel like they interview more international students bc their background is not as clear. Anyone have experience with this?

the number of applications and acceptances can be found in the ABA 509. As far as the interviews go:

QuentonCassidy wrote:The closest thing you will get for a source is this interview with the HLS dean of admissions: http://www.admissionsdean.com/researching_law_schools/interview/jessica-soban . In it, she notes that they were interviewing about 1200 people that year, and we know that they accept around 900 each year and that everyone who is accepted has been interviewed, so that gives a chance of 75%. There has been speculation about whether the number of interviewees has been raised from 1200 since the interview took place (2012 I think?), but there is no evidence for that, and people's best guess seems to be that the # of interviews is still right around 1200.

Hey there, I have questions! What is the interview like? Were there any curveballs?

It's very conversational and, I thought, pretty relaxed. For mine she literally had my resume in front of her and asked me to elaborate on certain things like my senior thesis and jobs I've had and of course the obligatory why law and why law now questions

Okay, sounds good! About how long was it/how long are they typically?

Pretty much always exactly 20 minutes, which goes by very quickly! I felt like both my interview and I wanted to keep talking after that time haha

Okay thank you! Was not expecting an interview in the first place, crazy if the chances are that good

I heard that if you send them a screenshot of your JS1, you get off the waiting list!

but if that doesn't work, yes I can invite others hehe

Anybody else feel like their interview was super quick and didn't give admissions a whole lot of new information?

Last year, it looks like the likelihood of receiving a JS1 decreased pretty drastically after ~44 days (ref: analytics from last year's thread). So, since it's been 57 days since September 23rd (the first complete of 2016), it would lead one to believe that most of the people on this thread who applied early have fairly low odds of receiving a JS1.

BUT: Last year, the first JS1 came only 27 days after the first complete. This year, it was 42 days. That makes me think that, on average, those of us who applied early still have a fair chance of receiving a JS1.

Thoughts? Again, not that it ultimately matters, but it's fun to talk about

I feel like timings for this cycle are going to be off relative to the previous few years. Not only the fact that JS1's came out quite a bit later than usual but also the fact that people have been reporting that during interviews the admissions person said that it might be a bit of a longer wait for decisions to come out (that's what I was told during my interview). So I feel like we'll still be seeing JS1's coming out in the next few weeks and probably decisions won't happen until late December at the earliest

Of course I'm totally speculating though haha

my interviewer said that decisions won't come until late december at the earliest

Interesting. Mine said "in a few weeks," which I took to mean early to mid-December. Was really hoping for something before Christmas. oh well.

My interviewer also said late December, but I noticed on LSN that most of the people who interviewed in November got decisions in Feb, though some got Dec/Jan JS2s. I wonder what determines when you hear back..

Mine said they will try to start to let people know in January...bottom line I think is that it will be quite a wait

I would imagine most of it is numbers (and of course how the interview went! + softs). For some people, they will want to see what the full pool will like after the december lsat. Also, they might want to see fall grades for straight-throughs.
