This time last year, Jeb Bush had just dropped out of the primary. A lot of unpredictable things can happen. Let's not extrapolate from incomplete data. Even with my optimistic analysis, I know how freaked out I would be if I read through this thread looking for information about JS1s. It's March, and I understand that our collective anxiety may soon reach fever pitch, but let's try to be a little bit considerate of whether our data contributions actually add something valuable to the available information.

Regardless, we're at a point in the cycle where there are likely few JS1s to be handed out. Exactly how many, nobody knows

It's definitely true, but there's a lot of space between "less emphasis than Y/S" and "softs cannot make the difference."

Plenty of people who're below both 25ths get admitted every year; that would not be the case if softs could never matter.

Fair point. I'm curious as to how many of those below both 25ths are URM though. I'm going to assume...a majority.

While I know that this thread in itself doesn't necessarily constitute statistical significance, if we are to base any assessments off of it, the *vast* majority of sub 170 LSATs that get JS1s are URM. As of this point in the thread, only 1 non-URM has reported even getting an interview with <25th LSAT.
