Fun facts: the JD class of 2019 has 562 students, 44% of color, and 51% are female, which makes this the first majority female class in HLS's history.

classes start tomorrow and I can't sleep

Current 1L here. Feel free to ask any and all questions. I was also the OP of last years thread, so please take advantage of the IMMENSE amount of tracking I did. I will take great personal offense if you do not enjoy the fruits of my labors :P

Thanks for the offer. I know the first wave comes sometime between Thanksgiving and mid-December, but is that a trickle of admits or a whole bunch? When should I realistically expect to hear back, given a relatively early submission?

First off, I recommend everyone who is applying to Harvard this cycle go find the c/o 2019 applicants thread and check out my OP. Just about any question you could think of asking will be answered there. I tracked every single JS1, JS2, waitlist, and rejection wave. Every. Single. One

Now to your question, you should abandon the idea of a realistic timeline for hearing back. I waited 9 weeks for a JS1 and I applied 20 minutes after the app opened, which as you'll see from last year's spreadsheet was a very long time to wait. I also knew somebody who applied the day the app opened and did not get accepted until late March.

The first wave of admits last year was on December 8, if my memory serves, and based totally on anecdotes it seemed like the first wave had less people than some of the waves in January and February.

Hopefully this answers your questions. :)

Checking in!

WLed last year with a late application. Probably going to suffer the same fate this year even with the earlier app, but oh well.

My Why Harvard essay: Because it's Harvard, duh.

Good luck everyone!
