Well, actually in the Decision Letter they say "By the end of January, we expect to complete our re-evaluation of those candidates who have chosen to remain on hold from the Early Decision Program".
"We expect" gives them a little wiggle room

Read: a lot. Like half of my job is writing emails like this that give my team maximum flexibility and minimum accountability. "We expect" along with "may","should", "forecast", and "target" mean nothing. You may as well say nothing at all.
That being said, NU has my trust as an organization with decent, professional people. I expect an answer today.
