Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I asked my friend who's a 2L at Northwestern now. He said he's never heard of a web-seminar... My heart stopped when I got the email though. And I am a reapplicant, who was held last year 3/1 and withdrew. I didn't get any email like this last year either.yuppitsme wrote:Does anyone else feel like it kinda is? Got that email today about chat with dean. Does one have to respond if they can't attend?
for a moment thought that it was an interview email.

I just made an account because this email has got me messed up. I mean I'm glad I heard something from them but Jesus. Also is anyone else worried that not being able to attend the session will have negative repercussions? Should I send an email saying I can't make it but would have if I could?

It's strange that it's on a Thursday at 4 pm. Like someone already said upthread, they have to know a lot of their applicants work

So I don't get it, it's going to be like a video of the Dean responding to questions which he gets in a chatbox from applicants?
Or are we all on camera?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
"Online chat" seems to imply text/voice based only. If it was video it would probably say something like live online seminar or conference. The site says that it's a semi-annual event, meaning that it just so happened that the date overlapped on a crucial response date deadline (today). It will likely mean nothing whether you show up or not.Thelaw23 wrote:So I don't get it, it's going to be like a video of the Dean responding to questions which he gets in a chatbox from applicants?

Still outrageously disappointed. I know my numbers put me at ding (no false modesty. <50% on both numbers) but I still don't appreciate being strung along just because they don't feel like issuing rejections. Congratulations to all my fellow ED Holds who have made it through.

As a public service to this forum: The admissions email is a form letter titled "Northwestern Law: Decision Letter Available".

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
So this means no results will be sent out for ED holds until after February 2 right?
I feel like it's obvious now that most of us are dinged/WL-ed if we haven't heard back already, so is this how they are going to decide who goes into which pile?

Congrats to everyone admitted today!
I was admitted on Jan/19 and was wondering have any admitted folks (other than those admitted today, of course) received an acceptance package in the mail? If so, how long did it take to receive? I have yet to receive one!!!

Good to know. The other acceptance emails I've received so far all have Congratulations in the subject, so at least for NU I won't panic too much upon seeing that.speedofthought wrote:As a public service to this forum: The admissions email is a form letter titled "Northwestern Law: Decision Letter Available".

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
So the live chat email was only sent to people who has not been accepted right, whether or not you are ED-hold?
I am trying to understand how specific the audience they are trying to target and how much emphasis shall be put on it.
A lot of people with my numbers got in and received FA so I am honestly a bit surprised that I didn't hear back yesterday...

Not only did I get that damned email, I got a phone call with an unmarked number that had (Chicago) next to it. Heart was pounding, picking up the phone - it was some freaking charity organization asking for money. Man, that sucked.

I got that email, but I get a lot of emails from random law schools about chats and webinars. I didn't think anything of it and just deleted it. But you guys are freaking me out that it's something more important and just random PR stuff.

I think so... it says in the e-mail "while you are awaiting a decision"pipipipi wrote:So the live chat email was only sent to people who has not been accepted right, whether or not you are ED-hold?

They begin reviewing files later than other law schools do so maybe they just know we are antsy....
