Just got that email too, I guess Cubans/Peruvians do get some URM considerations.

The e-mail reads:
YLS wrote:We asked the CRS to give us the names of a small group of highly-qualified minority and lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender applicants whose undergraduate grades and test scores suggest that they are individuals whose applications we would like to review fully.

So it's not a targeted e-mail to "URM" but any minority and LGBT, identified by you on CRS.

I got that same email, and I'm a straight white male. So color me confused. The only thing I can think of is that I have Middle Eastern heritage (and I probably indicated that in addition to my European heritage on CRS), but that typically doesn't constitute being a minority. And yeah my numbers are solid, but nowhere close to being Yale numbers, so I'm going to pass on their generous offer.

The answer to 98% of this thread is "when the Y faculty feel like it". The answer to the remaining 2% is "when Asha feels like it".

please don't quote

is it necessary that there be at least 2 academic recs for even those who are many years out of college? i read an interview in which asha suggested so but what if an applicant is like a decade away from college.

https://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/jd- ... pplication

"I often tell applicants that applying to Yale Law School is a lot like playing blackjack. The odds are on the house, there's more than a little luck involved, but there are a few basic rules you can follow to increase your chances significantly. One of those rules is to submit two references from faculty members who have taught you in a class. Let me put that another way: Your chances of admission to Yale Law School go down drastically if you submit only one or no academic letters of recommendation. Or let me break it down even further: Your letters of recommendation will make or break your application."

This exact question was asked like a page ago and the consensus is almost always get two professors no matter what because for Yale they basically consider it a deal breaker if you don't.

I just re-read my 250 and feel like it's insufferable... oh well. Checking in officially.

Lol, even when Yale does something, it's super vague. I wonder if this includes today? I wonder what time(s) the emails come out?

So much for a relaxing weekend

@ylsadmissions: "Offers will be going out over the next several days! To get these out as quickly as possible, notices will be sent by email, not phone."

I'm assuming that includes today, but who knows

I knew I wouldn't be enjoying the Super Bowl as soon as the Bills lost in Week 16

Thoughts on why they are making the switch to email?
