Yes, please, crush my pesky, persistent hope. I need this.

This is ten million times more stressful than waiting to hear back for undergrad.

Honestly, this is the first thing Trump has done that I approve of.

What's the point of American hegemony if we won't use our force to prevent genocide?

It's highly improbable that they will truly jump into the Syria mess. This is more likely just a flex of strength to protest the barbaric use of chemical weaponry. TBH no one really knows if the opposition forces in Syria are any better. More frightening would be an entanglement with Russia or Iran which are Syrian proxies.

Idk, I think that the US using force against Assad after mass murders isn't necc. incompatible with Russia backing Assad in fighting ISIS. I think the US flexing its muscle in Syria is good, at the very least to keep Assad wary about further atrocities.

I def agree with you that it's a good thing and more of a warning than anything else. Russia was notified in advance by the US, it's hard to imagine that Assad wasn't in turn also aware of the imminent response.

Yeah, I like the idea of the US taking out a major military asset of Assad's every time a war crime is committed. Like, Assad is likely going to regain control of the country. What we have to do now is mitigate the death and destruction involved.

Mixed feelings on this. He changed his tune in Syria dramatically in like 3 days. The chemical attack happened partly because of his earlier statements on Assad not being a concern for the US. So then Assad tests us with the chemical attack and Trump feels like he needs to send a message back. Overall doesn't strike me like the most considered strategic approach... But at least his bromance with Russia is finally over.

Just a random guess, but with a previous number of about 40 slots being thrown around, along with yesterday's 9 Facebook invites, that sounds like a mere 31 lucky souls.

I'd rather not know. Still not dinged (which is not surprising, I went complete early March), and I'd rather not find out how hopeless things are until I do get that email.
