LSN:

Last year (15-16 cycle), there was nothing but dings and rejects after April 8.
Before that there were only admits reported for a few weeks.
As has been noticed, last year was an abnormally small pool on LSN.

In the 14-15 cycle:
One rogue acceptance dated 4/15, otherwise only rejects and waitlists starting 4/13.
Wave of nothing but admits from 4/7-4/13
Before that? Nothing but rejects.

Conclusion: this cycle is already bizarre AF and is mixing reject and admit waves, which doesn't fit with previous protocol.

other conclusion: reason suggests remaining admits will come out between today and next friday. (SO helpful, I know)

Nobody who has reported going complete in March has reported a decision---ding or otherwise---from Yale. I think Yale is waiting to release those decisions once all FR is finished (presumably to mask which were presumptive admits and/or dinged by Asha).

Consequently, I think about 80% of those who went complete in March (none of whom have heard back yet) are already dinged, with another ~5-10% awaiting dings from FR, and the rest being WLs and admits.

Also, I think that those who went complete before March and have not heard back are in the running for admission (probably are FR-10s and FR-11s).

Does anyone know how many people they usually put on their waitlist?

I think the momentum from the HLS thread carried over here.

Did someone say LSN data?

I did a rough and tumble analysis here:

Image

With all the caveats in the world since this cycle looks a lot different than the past two, I give you something for the optimist and the pessimist:

Pessimist - it looks like the window for acceptance is closing.

Optimist - unless there has been a precipitous drop in LSN user quality, there are a good number of acceptances still out there.

I think some people from yesterday would argue that our shitposting is *not* winning...but I agree that we are winners!

Given the new t13 employment figures, I'm tempted to say fuck Yale and go somewhere else for free.

I sincerely doubt that everyone who submitted in Feb has already been dinged or waitlisted.

I mean, given no further information about the candidate pool, I can only speculate that the usual distro (~9-10% admits) applies to the remaining candidates.

That said, of people who self-reported on LSN in 2014-2015 (which is likely a biased sample, but we're all in that sample anyway, right?) as being complete in March 2015, 25% of them were admitted.

well, no one's been waitlisted. I just meant that people who were complete before march (and maybe only 2016 completes) are probably more on the WL/ding border than the admit/WL border. but I'd like to be wrong!
