I submitted my app on December 5 and received an acknowledgment email on December 6. No complete email since.

It's alright. Let's hold out. They must have received so many applications after Thanksgiving. And it's not like you'll achieve ANYTHING with a follow-up email.

Given Asha's blog posts, it really seems like Yale is the one school that doesn't value superfluous emails from candidates at all. I'm happy to wait.

I emailed asking about it after the 7th day, and they responded that it should be going complete soon. It then went complete about 1-2 days later. Sorry I don't remember exact details! Those are pretty close approximates though!

When in the cycle was this? My point is perhaps their turnaround in December has slowed down a lot from what it was when apps opened in mid-October or even in November. Still not a cause to worry though.

I submitted my application around November 11th, and it went complete around November 18th (if my memory serves me right)

This might be a super neurotic question but since TLS is the official sponsor of neurosis here it goes~~~

So in creepin around LSN from last year's cycle it appears that the two candidates who were admitted with numbers most similar to my own (170 and 3.67) were also both Latinx - one had a 166/3.82 and another had a 167/3.81.

Entonces mi pregunta es: is this a typically Yale "thing" to do, showing love to Latinxs? Am I ethnically #blessed as a Latina or was that just an anomaly for last year?

(The aforementioned people also had v strong softs but I'd like to think mine are at least semi-comparable to theirs - Fulbright, 3-4 jobs at a time throughout all of undergrad - one of which was a managerial position, poli sci honors thesis, blah blah blah)

I realized that the previous poll's winning option (first calls would come in January because nothing good will happen in 2016) relied upon the faulty premise that 2017 will be better than 2016.

So, new poll is up now. Why not.

The odds have to be fairly high that we aren't far from the early admission batch, right?

It depends when the faculty tasked with reviewing your file get around to reviewing your file. If your three faculty members finish relatively early, then you're a December admit. If not, you're a February admit (for example). Unless Asha becomes more restrictive about sending apps to the faculty after the initial wave, there shouldn't be any comparative disadvantage for a late applicant.

Right, that's what I mean. It seems like if you miss the boat on Asha's greatest hits then you'd inevitably be disadvantaged. Well, app now submitted regardless. I've already poured more of my life into this app than my chances of admission rationally justify, lol.

Yeah I mean it's been debated and analyzed in this thread and I'm sure in countless others...I think the bottom line is to get your app in as soon as it absolutely ready. And you did that! woohoo.
