I have a question, why is it that schools "offer" you a position on a waitlist as opposed to auto-moving you, I imagine it is a courtesy for those who do not want to be on a waitlist, is this correct? If that is the case, why would an applicant not elect to remain on a waitlist or in case where they had no choice, why would they immediately withdraw their applications?

Personally, I'm not staying on the waitlist because I have acceptances at comparable places that I'm more sold on and would very likely choose over Penn even if admitted, so it's not worth the time and energy or submitting an LOCI and updated materials. Also, if you get admitted off a waitlist, it can sometimes come mid-late summer (not always, but sometimes) which means having to adjust quickly for moving and such. Also means losing your deposit at whatever school you commit to in case the waitlist doesn't work out, and likely means little to no scholarship from the waitlist school.

In via a phone call about an hour ago! I was one of the UCR2 11/30 people -- GPA and LSAT both above the 75th percentile. If this has shown me anything, it's that "no news" is not necessarily "bad news" and we need to all stop freaking out so much! It will be okay!

Is it a bad sign that I am still UR1 12/5? It seems like many who were UR1 12/5 went UR2 already, and some even heard back yesterday. For reference, LSAT is at median and GPA is slightly under median, but after yesterday's bloodbath I'll just be happy to be WL'ed!

I applied ED2. My application was acknowledged and marked as complete a month ago, and has yet to go under review at all.

For ED2 people:

2016 TLS Data:
- UCR1: ED2 candidates did not go UCR1 until the day of the deadline (Friday, Jan. 15th). After the weekend, the staff had off on Monday, the 18th for MLK.
- UCR2: ED2 candidates went UCR2 on the 19th - this was Adcomm's first day back at the office. Notice how close UCR1 and UCR2 were.
- Decision Days: Friday, the 22nd (just three days after UCR2 - and all acceptances); Monday, the 25th (WLs, dings; I see no acceptances on this date) and Friday, the 29th (More acceptances, WLs, and dings)

If we are to assume that they'll follow a similar pattern as far as timing (I presume they want to wrap up the ED2 people quickly to return to Dec. LSAT taker RD apps), next week is going to be a big week for ED2 people.

2017 Predictions:
- UCR1: Tuesday, January 17th
(Actual: Applicant on TLS went UCR1 on Friday, Jan. 13th)
- UCR2: Thursday, January 19th or Friday, January 20th
- Decision dates: Friday, January 20th (Ambitious), Tuesday, January 24th, Friday, January 27th, and Monday, January 30th.
