Kind of surprised. Waitlisted with 170, 3.87. Would be slightly less upset if I was already in some of my other choices.

With numbers like that, I'm sure you'll get some of your other choicessphyrnidae13 wrote:Kind of surprised. Waitlisted with 170, 3.87. Would be slightly less upset if I was already in some of my other choices.

Admitted. 25 < GPA < 50; 75 < LSAT. UR 11/1; FR 1/12.

As far as I can tell, no. But I'm not sure if they'll send an email with that info.Monday wrote: (Is there a date for the next FR results like there was for this previous one?)

Has anyone who moved to this new round of faculty review received an email yet with the date when we will find out if we are in or not?

Re: UC Berkeley School of Law C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Waitlisted after FR with 3.8 / 175. I have some acceptances that indicate the soft side of my application wasn't terrible, so I will flatter myself by speculating that this was yield protect. I submitted a PS of 2 pages (rather than the preferred 4) and a 1 page diversity statement, neither of which were specifically tailored to Berkeley. Thus, my advice to future applicants with strong numbers is to ensure that you show special interest in Berkeley. This appears to be even more important for Berkeley than for at least one other school notorious for yield protecting, UPenn (where I was admitted with a similarly generic PS and diversity statement). As a side note, the same advice likely holds for UVA, where I have heard nothing despite a September application and expect to be waitlisted. Anyway, congratulations and best of luck to everyone! Enjoy the sunny weather!

I mean to be fair, it doesn't really matter how much higher you are than the median LSAT...they just want to push the median up. So your 175 isn't substantively different from, say, a 171. They probably figure they can't afford you tbh. UC is broke.warmcherrysoda wrote:Waitlisted after FR with 3.8 / 175. Or that she's very likely Hamilton and HYS (whereas a 171 isn't), thus YP.dddddd90 wrote:I mean to be fair, it doesn't really matter how much higher you are than the median LSAT...they just want to push the median up. Exactly. I guess what I meant to say was I'm not sure showing a special interest would have helped. Numbers just too high.Rigo wrote:Or that she's very likely Hamilton and HYS (whereas a 171 isn't), thus YP.dddddd90 wrote:I mean to be fair, it doesn't really matter how much higher you are than the median LSAT...they just want to push the median up. Yeah but if you truly want Berkeley (or any YP T14) the most and express that genuinely, I think they'd accept you.dddddd90 wrote:Exactly. I'm outdoorsey and explicitly stated I want to do environmental law, so hopefully they'll dig me since they are known for that. I should have been more explicit and connected those dots to Berkeley.dwall1121 wrote:kill me. sameRigo wrote:And then there's me who did nothing Berkeley specific yet really wants to go to Berkeley, so f'in lol at my stupid ass.

Basically I think it will come down to them thinking I'm a cool dude or not.
(spoiler: I'm not)
