is this considered a hold?

That's what I want to confirm, too... I think it is!

as a reapplicant from last year, they send you a specific email saying your status is a "Hold." What they're saying is they're putting you back in the general pool for RD - in a hold they move you out of the pool and wait a bit to see who else applies. If it doesn't say Hold you're not on hold - they're really explicit about it

ETA: if they said April it might be an unofficial hold, but everything around being held said "HOLD" in really big letters last year so I'm just not sure it's exactly the same thing

so if its not a hold, an acceptance or a complete rejection then what is it?

Its him being transferred from the ED to the RD applicant pool. So now he will be treated as an RD applicant, and eventually they will accept/deny/waitlist.

And apparently a courtesy to let him know he's in for a decent wait.

For RD applicants, how long from when you went complete to the interview requests?

Thanks!

LSAT = 75th, GPA < 25th, strong softs, RD, complete 11/8 here.

With all this talk about interviews, I haven't gotten any word back beside going complete and I'm getting worried. Are there a good number of people getting in without interviews?

No one knows. RD admits start in mid-January. I'm really not concerned in the least. My numbers are fine for Columbia, my letters are strong, my essay was strong - they have no reason to deny me outright, and probably have very little reason to need to speak with me. I think interviews are going to borderliners and scholarship candidates.

Must be nice!

I am pretty confident, it looks like almost all the people with my kind of numbers got in last year and the year before. Being a splitter sucks, but I have a lot of good softs, that make me feel slightly better.

Concur that no one knows and wouldn't worry either way...I'm not a splitter, my numbers are median or above but not high enough I think they'd be looking at me for scholarships, and I'm interviewing this week, so imagine it just depends on your particular app and if there's anything they want to hear more about.

If you don't mind my asking, when did you submit your application? I'm on the really, really low end of CLS's stats so I'm wondering if it's by admission index number or by date of completion. Thank you!

Finished my interview last week. This was probably my least favorite interview out of the ones I've done. It wasn't bad though. The interviewer was super nice, and the interview was probably the most casual one. However, like many on this thread, I felt like the questions were coming at me very quickly. I lost count of how many questions there were. None of the questions were odd or curveballs, but there was just a lot. It almost felt like I was being questioned.

Regardless, still an enjoyable experience! Just relative to the others, it would be my least favorite.

Went complete on October 17th, GPA>75th, 50th<LSAT<75th, RD

What other interviews did you take? I only took Columbia and I thought it was very pleasant.

Still no Columbia interview for me =/ I wonder if it's because I submitted in early Nov. Odd since I had the Harvard and UChicago ones already. Anyone else in the same boat?

Similar boat here. I applied in late October to all three; have had a JS1 but still no interview invites from either Columbia or Chicago. Fingers are crossed though...

Idk about Chicago, but with Columbia I wouldn't worry about interviews with the numbers both of you have.

lots of people who get in don't ever get the chance to interview. it just means they don't have questions about your application.

But I hear for Hamilton you need to interview? Wasn't sure if it was a necessary component

I don't think it's necessary to interview in order to be considered for the Hamilton. My friend got the offer last cycle without an interview.

The only thing that confuses me about this though is that to a lot of the questions they asked, the answers could easily be found in my application. They didn't point out any inconsistencies or gaps in my application which makes me think there is a bit of randomness with these interviewers.

I think for high stats for the scholarships they probably wanted to evaluate you, but for borderline it might be questions about your app

100% speculation tho just a thought

Ooh, just nabbed that CLS interview invite. Clearly, the takeaway here is that neurotic posting on TLS leads to positive real-life outcomes. Or something like that.
