Woooooo hi I'm making my ~third post~ here on TLS as a proud owner of a brand new account

So quick question: I have an interview with Columbia next week and if I'm gonna speculate it's either because 1) I'm a borderline applicant (3.67 + 170) or 2) of my C&F. Re: the C&F, I was dismissed from my undergrad for the first semester of freshman year for having ~0.9 g of a certain green leafy substance in my dorm room (my undergrad had a v serious zero-tolerance policy which has fortunately changed since then but unfortunately means that I have a nasty "Temporarily Dismissed" on my transcript). SO if this is something that's discussed in the interview, I'm wondering what the best way to talk about it is? I absolutely don't want it to come across as me being like "WHATEVER IT WAS A DUMB RULE UGH" but I also want to make it clear that I wasn't like dealing out of my dorm room, which I worry is the impression that will come across through the words "Temporarily Dismissed." Any thoughts/advice/recipes for stress foods that I can eat in the meantime?

Had my interview earlier today. Was probably the most pleasant interview I've had thus far in this cycle.

It seems like they're interviewing an awful lot of people this year. Do we know if they've moved from only interviewing borderline applicants and scholarship candidates to maybe trying to interview more of the applicant pool?

Do recall the insanely small sample size on TLS versus the entire applicant pool. Might not actually be as many as it seems!

I was 18, I had an obviously personal amount of marijuana on me, and, as that violated my schools zero tolerance policy, I was dismissed. I have not been in trouble since; I did not and do not have a drug problem.

I don't think that is why you are being interviewed, though.

As for stress-relieving food: brownies, obviously, right?

You rock thank you so much! I'll just stick to the facts (ma'am) (Joe Friday? Dragnet? I'm so sorry I'll go back to the 20th century). Also 500% yes on the brownies brb running 2 grocery store

I thought someone said they're ramping up the interviews as they want to eventually interview every applicant.

That would be wonderful. I of course am writing this as someone who has not received an interview request and am #BeyondWorried.

Just got an application under review email but submitted three weeks ago? What does this mean?

Not to sound snarky, but it means that you're under review.

Just because you submitted three weeks ago that doesn't mean they got to it as soon as it was submitted.

Interesting; I hadn't heard of this step. Can anyone who has already received an interview request confirm that they received a similar "under review" email?

Also @cognitiveproblem did you get a "complete" email?

Ha! Apparently I'm dumb and confused - I got a ton of "thank you for submitting, here's the status checker" emails shortly after I submitted. Checked almost all of them and they had all requirements checked off and said complete. Just double checked the Columbia email and it is, in fact, a "complete" email. Sorry for the confusion!

Did Columbia add you as a contact on Skype right before your scheduled interview time?

They didn't even add me as a contact. I got a call right at 2 and accepted - don't worry if their username doesn't have "CLS" in it.

I would definitely be prepared to talk about it. I had my interview earlier this week, and she asked me about something very specific on my transcript. I would explain it just like you did in this post. Just make sure they know that this was a one time mistake, and you learned from it etc etc..

Also have Columbia interview scheduled for next Friday - for those of you who have already had one, can you share if the questions were more on the specific questions about your application/story or were there also the typical: Why Law? Why Columbia?. Thanks!
