I believe it has been confirmed they are ramping up interviews and hope to interview more and more moving forward.

Was there a wave yesterday? If so, I'm not sure about a wave today. If not, the odds of a wave today may increase. Last year, the last wave before any WL/rejection waves was the last Tuesday of the month.

interviews go to a wide range of people for a wide range of reasons; someone on here keeps suggesting that it's borderline or scholarship people who get it. that's not the case and you can get the receipts from the deans themselves. it's simply not true.

you'll be okay, your numbers are solid, and if you just stay calm and be yourself for the interview, you'll be okay. people with and without interviews have been rejected and accepted, so it's not an indication in any direction. you're good! breathe!

After going through the interview, I really don't think that they're trying to be a blocker. They have legitimate questions about your application and they want to speak with you. Receiving an interview is only a good thing in that they did not have to take more time on your application if they were "unsure" or thought you're a "bubble candidate." They already have sufficient info to make their decision without speaking with you for 20 minutes. If anything, it felt more like gauging interest in Columbia and adding a few more details to your app before making a final decision.

On another note, if you look at past years, a majority of those interviewed did end up being admitted and only a few got waitlisted. Did not see any flat out rejects, but I'm sure they're out there.

This year, it really does look like they're interviewing a decent portion of their applicant pool and it appears almost all URMs are getting interviewed, except those above the medians/75ths.

Where is the data for this "it appears almost all URMs are getting interviewed?"

Just speculation based off of TLS users. Could definitely be wrong. Like everything on this forum, take it with a grain of salt.

ME = URM that hasn't interviewed. lol

Apologies, I should have clarified. I do not believe all URMs in the applicant pool are being interviewed. I believe that a large portion of URMs that are under serious consideration are being interviewed. I still don't think not getting an interview counts anyone out or getting an interview means you're in, but I do think getting an interview is a step in a positive direction.

I'm just trying to soothe over any anxieties any users may be having when it comes to the interview. Judging by the tone and comments of this thread, I think the increase in interviews this cycle is driving people a bit batty.

Nah. It's just the waiting is driving people a bit batty.

Y'all have the thread up in flames with this URM discussion though

I was actually really nervous going into it, but it was fine. Pretty short (~15-20 mins). Questions mostly pertained to information on my application, e.g. resume, personal statement, recommendations, transcript. Nice to know how closely they read those things. Little time for my own questions, but I didn't have many specific to CLS.

when did your app go complete?
i applied in early december and still no interview request

I think this thread has moved on from that discussion because it was dumb.

i listed 3 recommender names for one of the questions on the online app, but submitted only 2 recs.

i recently received an email with title "Initial Application Components Received" that said they're looking forward to the rest of application.

what if i don't end up submitting the 3rd rec? would it affect app in any way?

You may need to let them know but I don't think they'd see it negatively.
