Last year post on PTs

UPDATED INFO ON PTS -

c/o 2015:
received PT on august 18
c/o 2016:
received PT on august 23
c/o 2017:
received PT on august 21

c/o 2018:
first applicant in thread sent in apps on august 28
first reveieved PT on august 29 ** old version says 28, my bad!!
The first admit under PT was on Sept 5
September LSAT scores were released around Oct 20
October PT invites came out on Oct 27

**mpellenberger, last year it looks like PT invites went out one day after the app release date (assuming that first person submitted on day 1 - hard to tell so if anyone has hard data on last years app release let me know!!)
it is certainly possible we will see PT invites coming out on the 19th!! especially since c/o 2015 received on the 18th
everyone start stressing! ;)

old PT info post:

It seems like the stats needed for PT are a bit unpredictable, but it looks like most have either both LSAT and GPA over median, or one over a 75th and one hovering slightly below median. Can't tell if they favor LSAT or GPA more in the algorithm (if they use one at all).

CRS preferences seem to have an influence as well. Someone with v good stats didn't receive a PT invite, then said they changed their CRS preferences to reflect Duke (I assume by saying they liked NC) and received an invite very shortly after.

Based on the Duke Admission results spreadsheet for last years cycle (found at the top of the LS Accept/WL/Denial thread) it looks like about 80% of TLSers than get PT are admitted and 11% wait listed. no data on denials.

not to feed the fire here...but 2/3 of those dates are Fridays

which makes sense; send it and leave the office before people start calling to ask why they didn't get one

so today could be the day

Got a PT invite while taking a nap. Life is good.

No one has done it yet, so I'm going to be that neurotic asshole. What's the scuttlebutt for how PT affects your admission chances?

Got my PT invite today, but URM, so it was kind of unpredictable. GPA between median and 75th, LSAT below median.

I'm... actually not sure. Here's my email, if it sounds the same then it probably is

From: hoye@law.duke.edu
Subject: Duke Law School Priority Track

Body:

Dear xxx:

I am pleased to learn of your interest in attending law school. We received information about your outstanding academic record from the Law School Admission Council’s Candidate Referral Service. Based on your strong credentials, I invite you to apply to Duke Law School through our Priority Track review process. This program guarantees that a response to your application will be e-mailed to you within ten days of completing your file.

The Priority Track program allows you to submit your application materials at any time prior to the February 15 deadline. Your application fee will be automatically waived when you submit your application through LSAC; you should not need to enter a code. Upon completion of your file, your application will receive an immediate comprehensive review and you will receive a response within ten days. This is a non-binding program; if you are admitted to Duke, you may freely consider offers of admission from other law schools.

Please note that several elements are required to complete your file, including a Credential Assembly Service (CAS) Law School Report, your application form, a resume, a personal statement, and two letters of recommendation.

In order to have your application reviewed through the Priority Track program, please register now.

In the meantime, I invite you to learn more about Duke Law by visiting our website. I hope that receiving a quick response from Duke will be helpful as you navigate your way through the law school admissions process. I look forward to reading your application.

Yeah it only said "Duke Law School Priority Track" as the subject line. The context of the email was the exact same as the post above.

Do you guys think applying through Priority Track actually increases our chances of admission?

Based purely on anecdotal evidence here and on LSN, supposedly acceptance rate of PT is over 50% (like 70-80%), so theoretically better than the 19% stated. Now I'm sure the non-reporting skews negative (I can't imagine it's actually like 80%), and most people with the stats for PT can expect higher than 19% chance of admission anyway, but it does seem to at least point out people who stand a strong chance of being accepted.

Irrespective of anything, it cuts turn around to 10 days, I don't need any benefit over that to be excited.

Last cycle sitting around for months to be waitlisted by schools was by far the worst part of it

True. It wasn't exactly on my list before, but the quick turnaround and no app fee was enough to make my day and at least send in an application, lol. Absolutely nothing to lose (we'll pretend the $30 report fee doesn't count).

I always forget about the LSAC fee, compared to what I'm about to spend on school I try to forget about all the 30$ fees

Exactly. It's the least of our worries at this point.

Yep. Unsolicited.
