For those of you that wrote Why X essays, what did you include in your essay?
I got into Duke and I credit my why Duke!

I talked about three things in my essay:

1) I really like their global financial markets center, specifically the expertise Baxter and now Reiners bring to it. I don't know if I want to stay in the financial world but if I do it will be in regulation and really like the expertise they have.

2) I like their full year legal writing program, I think writing is the second most important thing taught in law school so I want to make sure I'm given the opportunity to learn legal writing.

3) I really love Durham and the campus. I spent two years in DC and am confident I do not want to live in a big city for law school, also it's the T14 for the south (fellow FSU grad) so I appreciate the location and size of the surrounding area

I thought mine went pretty well but I guess it could've gone better. It was the Mordecai interview with the dean and I didn't get it but I got a significant scholly instead.

I am guessing Mordecai will be different than the regular interview, but any questions that stood out to you?

I think the only difference was that he didn't ask about my financial situation. Other than that nothing stood out. Regular questions about why law and about my PS and what would I bring to duke

Had mine a few days ago with Dean Hoye - nothing too intense and he even said "you're already in, so don't feel like I'm trying to trip you up at any point in this interview, it's really just to get to know you better."

Asked about financial situation, why law, why Duke, if I'd had a significant experience at work that made me sure law was what I wanted to do (or something like that, I don't remember now exactly how he worded it). Generally, just conversational and nothing to stress about.

It's my Day 10, and I just got an acceptance email from one of my safety schools. My heart just about stopped when I read "congratulations." Ugh.

Fully expecting priority reserve, because no Why Duke.

If you want me to take a look at a second draft after protein gives notes I'm down.

Eta, not saying protein would be a bad reviewer, just that I went through many rounds of review for mine and thought you may also want multiple rounds

What do you mean by stay up? Are you guaranteed a decision within 10 days?

Yeah I applied priority track, which guarantees some sort of decision in 10 days. I went complete on the 13th, so today's the day.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
