Are interviews required for scholarship money?

No. But they use it as a measure for need and desire to attend. So if you don't interview, you might not get that 3k bump (for example) for expressing a strong desire to attend.addie1412 wrote:Are interviews required for scholarship money?

Definitely need a bigger offer at a peer school. Substantial offer at a lower school doesn't cut it. They seem to hold to their position that they give scholly to more of the class than most of the T14 (like 80% get something), so they can't give too much to everybody. But it doesn't hurt to ask even if you don't think you'll get something. The faculty are all extremely nice and responsive.proteinshake wrote:any advice on scholarship negotiating with Duke?lymenheimer wrote:.

I honestly don't know. But outside of the T14 is almost definitely a nonstarter. It really depends on the scholarship amount and the resultant COA though, which is another thing they push. Since durham is so cheap, even though the tuition is higher, a minimal scholarship goes a long way in reducing COA. I wish I had all the info, but some of it is still behind the curtain.proteinshake wrote:is Cornell considered a peer for negotiating? Has anyone who applied ED gotten in yet or do we have to wait for the notification date? Is it worth shooting their admissions department an email? I've been UR1 since 9/19...

In via PT on Day 11! I think the holiday caused the delay but I'm just glad I didn't have to wait till after Thanksgiving break to find out PM for stats!

Well this is mildly reassuring. I was making myself feel better by saying, "maybe they're just waiting for the notification date..." I am sitting around the 25th percentile on both LSAT and GPA, but I have strong softs and I am military. Duke is my top choice and I wrote a compelling "Why Duke" essay.potterotter wrote:Hey Sharp, this year it seems only goodworkste has gotten in ED, but he was Accelerated ED not regular ED. There may be people who have gotten in and not posted it though.SharpSpoons wrote:Has anyone who applied ED gotten in yet or do we have to wait for the notification date? For PT: Does everyone go UR2 several days before a decision is made? My status checker hasn't been updated since the first UR and I'm on day 9 now.

PT WL. Damn. 3.3/173 + Why Duke. Bummed. Know it's going to be a bumpy cycle, though.
