Admitted today! Interview on 11/10. No word on scholly so hopefully I see something good in that packet. People do get Dillards and other schollies in the packet right?

I did not. Is the consensus here that Dillards and a few exceptions come out with the packets and most will come after January? Or should we not hold our breath if nothing came with the packet?

Someone on LSN already got a $60,000 scholarship in their packet but not a Dillard. Thought it was interesting because I haven't heard of anyone else getting offers besides the Dillard recipients.

Yeah I was confused by that too. Because I also remember seeing somewhere on this thread that they heard most of the scholarship work gets done by admissions around Jan/feb

If you look at the class of 2019 thread it looks like they had merit and need aid stuff come out in March. Fair warning, It also looks like they don't give it to many people... lots of "wish I could go but can justify sticker when mich/Berk/duke threw me money" in that thread

UVA has lots of big scholarships tho, according to LSN at least. So if you're above both 75ths, you're in a good place.

UVA has lots of big scholarships tho, according to LSN at least. So if you're above both 75ths, you're in a good place.

... And It looks like if you aren't you're kinda screwed, thus my anxiety. Would love to go here but if I get 0 in aid it's just not defensible to not take one of my other offers. Holding out for something early next year though.

yeah I'm really worried about having to pay sticker. someone with the same numbers as me got over 100K from Duke, NU, Berk, and Michigan, but nothing from UVA. I think UVA realizes it's the best (at least in terms of placement I guess) among its peers and uses that to its advantage? not really sure but its hella weird.

If you get any money, it will be <15/20k per year. However, you have a great shot at serious money at M/N/Cornell etc.

15-20K might be good enough for me. Charlottesville is cheap right? plus my COL is covered. though I'd definitely weigh it against other offers. thanks!

20k may be more accurate. I think she mainly referred to a lot of 15k and under scholarships. I've seen some schools that give out like 9k a year out of 60k tuition. I think that's what they are trying to avoid, but 9k > 0.

What makes you say UVA is the best among its peers in terms of placement?

I guess its just stronger than its peers in what are the two most important categories for most applicants (at least I think) -- fed clerking and much stronger big law placement in DC while also easily placing in NYC. I'm not saying its drastically different, but I definitely think there's a difference.
