Do they send acceptances via snail mail too, or should I be satisfied by the application status checker admit?

If you look at the class of 2019 thread it looks like they had merit and need aid stuff come out in March. Fair warning, It also looks like they don't give it to many people... lots of "wish I could go but can justify sticker when mich/Berk/duke threw me money" in that threadRich Uncle Skeleton wrote:Yeah I was confused by that too. UVA has lots of big scholarships tho, according to LSN at least. So if you're above both 75ths, you're in a good place.Bob loblaw law blog wrote:If you look at the class of 2019 thread it looks like they had merit and need aid stuff come out in March. ... And It looks like if you aren't you're kinda screwed, thus my anxiety. Would love to go here but if I get 0 in aid it's just not defensible to not take one of my other offers. Holding out for something early next year though.SweetTort wrote:UVA has lots of big scholarships tho, according to LSN at least. I am so freaking confused by UVA's process. They're giving out enough non-Dillard scholarship letters to people to make us freak out, but not enough where most of us know our scholarships. WTH.

yeah I'm really worried about having to pay sticker. someone with the same numbers as me got over 100K from Duke, NU, Berk, and Michigan, but nothing from UVA. I think UVA realizes it's the best (at least in terms of placement I guess) among its peers and uses that to its advantage? not really sure but its hella weird.guybourdin wrote:Over half the students pay sticker. what would you say for someone with median LSAT and only a bit below median GPA?curry1 wrote:if the 75th is LSAT you're in very good shapeRich Uncle Skeleton wrote:Only over one 75th so today's discussion is not sounding good for me... my heart is pretty set on UVA tooguybourdin wrote:Over half the students pay sticker. I think UVA has just a diff scholarship strategy. Instead of a bunch of medium-sized scholarships, offer a few huge ones to boost numbers.proteinshake wrote:yeah I'm really worried about having to pay sticker. someone with the same numbers as me got over 100K from Duke, NU, Berk, and Michigan, but nothing from UVA. 15-20K might be good enough for me. Charlottesville is cheap right? plus my COL is covered. though I'd definitely weigh it against other offers. thanks!curry1 wrote:If you get any money, it will be <15/20k per year. Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
At the dinner, the financial aid director verbatim said this. She said they don't give out schollies under around $25,000 a year because they like for them to be meaningful rather than a slap in the face. Although, a small slap in the face couldn't hurt...SweetTort wrote:I think UVA has just a diff scholarship strategy. I'll just email them letting them know I won't mind. but forreal, 20k/year is $60k, I wouldn't consider that a slap in the face! according to MyLSN someone got $60k total so that gives me hope.poptart123 wrote:At the dinner, the financial aid director verbatim said this. Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
20k may be more accurate. I think she mainly referred to a lot of 15k and under scholarships. I've seen some schools that give out like 9k a year out of 60k tuition. I think that's what they are trying to avoid, but 9k > 0.proteinshake wrote:I'll just email them letting them know I won't mind. but forreal, 20k/year is $60k, I wouldn't consider that a slap in the face! according to MyLSN someone got $60k total so that gives me hope.poptart123 wrote:At the dinner, the financial aid director verbatim said this. Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I guess its just stronger than its peers in what are the two most important categories for most applicants (at least I think) -- fed clerking and much stronger big law placement in DC while also easily placing in NYC. I'm not saying its drastically different, but I definitely think there's a difference.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:proteinshake wrote:I'll just email them letting them know I won't mind. but forreal, 20k/year is $60k, I wouldn't consider that a slap in the face! according to MyLSN someone got $60k total so that gives me hope.poptart123 wrote:At the dinner, the financial aid director verbatim said this.
