Does anyone know how much of an admissions bost it is for Virginia residents to get in? Apparently 40% of their students have to be in-state.

Also did anyone indicate that they double majored in the application or did they just put their main major? (Doesn't look like there's an option to put a second one, just a spot to describe your major if it's not on the drop down)

Any chance UVA rescinds my offer for getting a C on my final transcript? Or am I just being a bit neurotic?

I think they count vets as in state regardless of where we are coming from? I know GI bill would only pay for me as a VA resident if I decide on UVA. That might skew the statistic a little bit (not much) since they seem to have a healthier military community than a lot of the T14.

I would double-check on vets counting as in-state. I'm not sure if that's quite how it works. Also, do they not have Yellow Ribbon Program for UVA Law?

I'm not sure how it works for admission statistics, but vets here at UVA Law are all given in-state status regardless of when you served. It's a national law now that state schools must give a vet in-state status if they enroll within three years of separation. When I interviewed last year, the director of financial aid told me that they were giving vets in-state status well before the law and they do not care when you got out. I'm here on the GI Bill. UVA really takes care of vets, including putting us at the top of the class lottery each semester. I've had nothing but amazing experiences here.

Yellow Ribbon Program is to cover the gap between tuition at a private school and what GI Bill will pay for a private school. As a public school, UVA tuition is 100% covered by GI Bill.

I'm not sure if that carries over for law school though since the tuition is so much higher.

Edit: and in UG, that was only true if you were able to get in-state tuition.

Thanks for that info, I've heard nothing but enthusiasm from people at UVA, especially the vets. I'm sad to say I haven't gotten the same impression from Georgetown, as my better half will need to be working in a major metro area and we'd rather not keep up the distance thing the Navy's forced on us from time to time. Charlottesville isn't really that far from DC I guess, and doesn't seem like a bad place to be a geographical bachelor if it comes to that though...

Yeah, definitely not too bad of a drive (depending on traffic ).

Not at all. I was interviewed by Chris Colby and just as others have said, he is incredibly helpful and personable.
