Of course I had to check as soon as I saw your post.

Nope, still UR1. Although I creeped hard enough in the c/o 2019 thread that some people went straight from UR1-->accepted, so I won't despair.

I wouldn't despair! Who know what it means. Hopefully we'll start hearing back soon.

"Are you a first-generation college student? New York University School of Law defines "first-generation college student" as a
student who is among the first in their immediate family to receive a bachelor's degree or the equivalent."

I should put yes here right? my parents didn't get their bachelor's but my sister got hers before me. however 'first generation' generally means that your parents didn't get their bachelor's (siblings don't matter). it says 'among' so I'm assuming I should put yes. I'm prob overthinking.

Personally, Im always overly cautious with this kind of stuff. I'd rather put no and find out I could have put yes than put yes and have them think I was trying to lie

I guess it's best to call, but I'm 99% sure that you still qualify as a first generation college student even if your sister got her degree first. I'm sort of curious now though so let us know what they say!

so I called and they just repeated the wording on the app and emphasized the word "among," so I'm gonna put yes, since among doesn't mean the first. plus my UG identified me as FG so I'm sure it's correct.

UR1 today! Seeing forward movement is exciting (even if it doesn't mean much in terms of timeline)

I'm glad NYU sends emails with Dear [first name] instead of Mr/Ms [last name]

I thought it takes that from what you put on your app

For NYU and other schools which just let you submit "open ended" supplemental statements - how do you guys label them? I plan to submit a diversity statement, but do I just go ahead and call it "diversity statement"? Idk for some reason that feels strange.

yes, do that for the description. you don't need an actual title for the paper (like on the word document).

Is it mid-November yet?

On an unrelated note--does anyone know when NYU sends out scholarship info? Is it with acceptances, or do they do it later in the cycle?

Wait so you went UR1 after a month? Interesting. I guess there really is no rhyme or reason to this. Give me a sign!!!

Sorry, I should clarify! I submitted my application around 10/17 and it said "Application Under Review" like the next day. Up to today, the date has been 10/18 but today it changed to 11/14. I'm just unsure how I should interpret it!
