They could just extend another offer. 1,870 or 1,871, is there a difference to them? NYU makes a lot of offers. They received over 500 more applications from '15 to '16 and extended 34 less offers, so that would make me think they just accept who they want to accept. Just a thought.

Re: the applications, in the next 5 years they want to decrease the class size. From their strategic plan, 2015:

"OBJECTIVES: Explore options for increasing affordability for students, including by reducing the size of the JD class and increasing non-tuition revenue from sources including philanthropy, executive education, and other degree and nondegree programs."

They're also on a kick to increase URM students, which I think helps those URM students who might be lower in the ranges.

When does NYU typically send out their scholarships?

Long time lurker, first time poster. My status checker just went from UR 2 on 1/6/2016 back to my original UR 1 date of 11/26/2016. Has that ever happened to anyone else? What does it mean?

Anyone know when the scholarship awards are likely to go out for those who have already been admitted?

That's fantastic -- going to take this to arbitrarily mean decisions will come this week. Struggling over here and officially have no nails left to bite.

Last year awards for the non-program schollies were the first week of February. I think each of the program schollies have their own particular timelines

Thanks!

UR1 12/23, UR2 1/9. Is this a good sign? I always see ppl posting here about UR1,UR2 and never know whether it's a good or bad thing. Like does anyone go from UR1 straight to acceptance?
Edit: Just realized this is way too quick a turnaround compared to others, probably means I'm gonna get dinged. It's a reach school for me and they probably didn't take long to decide.

Does anybody know if the online institutional financial aid application is available yet? I'm having trouble finding information on their admitted students website about it. I'm eager to apply for those Dean Scholarships!

I got my admissions box in from NYU, it didn't have any directions on it either.

I was wondering this too, and I think they should be sending information on it soon. I feel like they said early January for their institutional FA forms.

Others have had quick turnaround too and it hasn't led to dings. There isn't a pattern.

I didn't even go UR2 and was accepted on the first day - I wouldn't worry about it.

You got a random packet from NYU without being admitted yet? Or you're admitted already?
