Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Will all the invites go out before any rejections, or will they be happening at the same time? And would you say that we will all hear either way before the end of Feb, or will decisions continue through the beginning of March? (I'm planning to come out and visit NYU regardless of if I get an RTK interview, but the timing will depend on whether or not I am interviewed so I'm just getting antsy to plan my trip! )
Answer: Most likely yes. Important to get the word out to people invited so they can plan. I know it sucks to wait even longer just to get a 'no', but you'll understand that if you have to travel far (e.g. I flew from Israel because I got an invite while travelling) you need more time. Also, not everyone accepts our invitation (if you got an invite after a JS2 for example, maybe you want to commit to HLS) so no point rejecting people and then telling them we want them back. Doesn't look organized.
Thanks for that! What does it mean if we are a regular applicant who hasn't heard anything? Does a "Why NYU" help or do they already know I want to go there (because... duh)?
Answer: Sorry, what I meant to say was that if you applied for admission and haven't even received admission yet, the chances of getting admitted in time for a 3 stage review by our committee before interview weekend is slim. A Why NYU will only help with admission at this point, not with getting reviewed by the RTK committee, although, stranger things have happened.
Same Do any admissions officers need an organ?
Answer: I can ask around. Just the kidney or is this a broad offer?
Any idea about ASPIRE or other named scholarships? I haven't seen anything on this board about movement for those other schollys
Answer: Can't speak to that. I'm not sure if they interview but if they do, it could be a similar situation. ASPIRE is very new.

Thanks! Yes, it is an interview based one. Figured we'd hear back on interview invites by early March (hopefully).

Thanks for your responses! So, if we haven't heard anything yet, is it more likely than not that we aren't getting an invite?

I don't know what to think. I'm sure we've all gone through the paces. On the one hand, mad people have been dinged and we're still standing. On the other, I submitted a scholarship essay and have decent numbers (splitter). My conclusion is we are HARD borderline candidates and it effing sucks.Keilz wrote:UR2 10/31dg1090 wrote:UR2 12/5. Is the UR2 1/17 crew still in tact? Have any of us heard either way?

For those of us that are UR1 since October and have decent stats - do we think that there is any chance that they lost and/or forgot about our applications? That being said, I am definitely expecting a WL.

Has anyone been in UR 3 since 2/6 and still hasn't heard back?

I'm UR1 in November and right around both 75ths and my hopeful theory is that they're holding for my new Feb LSAT score. Otherwise, yeah I'm gonna go with them losing it.juneandlune wrote:For those of us that are UR1 since October and have decent stats - do we think that there is any chance that they lost and/or forgot about our applications? Wear the suit. Dress the part, get the part. While the alum/students on the interview panel are not sticklers for this but the professors, administrators, and stuffy scholarship sponsors (that come from big law firms) WILL care.anrf1225 wrote:
you've been so helpful answering questions! hoping you can answer mine not necessarily about RTK.. whats the dress normally for the interview? my interview for a different scholarship is during an admitted students day and I'm wondering if I should wear a suit
I don't personally care what you wear, but to paraphrase Will Smith, if you don't plan to wear a shirt, you had better have on some really, nice, pants.
Good luck!
