You haven't already? Wow look at the gunner over here.
I totally did during my busy season at work.
Also my 2L friend yesterday just text me yesterday saying "save yourself. don't go to law school. I'm unhappy. I talked to my old TA and he's unhappy. I regret my life choices."
I think every lawyer and law student I've talked to thus far has told me not to go to law school.
I get that from all the attorneys I know EXCEPT my mother and sister in law (both family law attorneys and love their work). But I also want to do PI which none of the attorneys I know does, so I think our motivations are very different. I'm not going into law because I didn't know what else to do/want to get rich.
(not trying to bash anyone who is going to LS for those reasons, just saying they are not mine)
Most people I've talked to are law students who don't know me very well, and most of their complaints pertained to things I already knew or would expect (stressful, business focus, murders are mentioned, etc), so not incredibly helpful. Definitely wish I knew more attorneys, especially more recent graduates, because I've spoken to very few.
Relatives and stuff are def very encouraging but don't have JDs and say things like "broadly applicable degree you can use for *anything*
"

I think most people are pretty shocked when I tell them the law schools I'm considering. But I can't really blame them. Had I told myself 5 years ago I'd be in this situation, I'd be pretty shocked too lol

I'm going to Michigan!
& okay, fair enough then. I suppose you're saying the T14 (or is it 13?) is worth a heftier debt-load. I get sad thinking about it, but I still think I came out okay when I consider how much I was expecting I'd have to pay lol.

Yeah, I get that vibe sometimes too. Michigan doesn't have as much lay prestige though so it's not quite as fun as when I say something like "Georgetown" and ppl are like "Wow, that's a good school!"

Same. My boss's eyes turned to dinner plates when I told him what law schools I was deciding between (after I had just told him I'm leaving in June to go to law school). Pretty sure he expected me to say I was going to the local TTT

As soon as someone enters into a real conversation with me, at some point in time I get the dumbfounded look followed by a comment along the lines of "wait, you're smart"
It used to irk me, but now I just smile and insult them with my sarcasm.
