Sup guys why is PS so hard

Second that. I wrote my first one and absolutely hated it. I've decided to use it as a sacrifice to the admissions gods in exchange for a fresh batch of creativity. Drum circle starts tonight at sundown

I did the exact same thing, felt the exact same way, wrote a different one, hated it less. So now I basically have one which is so broad that it's not compelling at all, and one that's pretty specific and interesting but doesn't really tell much about me. Why can't there be a happy medium??

Life would be easier if Adcomms would solely judge me by a few numbers

Hiiiiiiiii f_u! :D :D

Similar PS struggles. The draft I'm going with is the latter option -- specific (hopefully interesting?) but doesn't say loads about me. It's a tough call but I think I would rather go narrow and focused over having a sort of broaaaaaaaaddd vague essay rife with platitudes. IDK! It's annoying! I want to be done!

Heyyyyyy pret! I'm inclined to think the same thing, going with a marginally interesting story to at least keep the adcomm from falling asleep, but I'm not sure that this particular story gives much of an impression of me as a human :shrug emoji:

Right? On the flip side, I'm not sure personal statements really move the needle that much unless they're outstanding or terrible. If you aren't writing a great one, just don't write a bad one.

Oh god I know this feeling. I'm on PS #4..? I think the one I have is pretty good now but still. Like I've written 20-30 pages for a 2 page essay. Guess that's what happens when you haven't written outside of a professional setting for years.

I went on my fee waiver solicitation streak today. One of the college's answered back with, "We are currently still processing applications from the most recent cycle. Contact us again when we open up the application in a few weeks."

Do they really sift threw apps until mid September? I'm terrified to get waitlisted now.

Did you know that the law school waitlist has its roots in medieval torture methods?

I legit had a nightmare last night that LSAC calculated my GPA 2 tenths lower than I expected. I've spent all day frantically refreshing my account waiting for the last transcript to upload. ThIs is fun.

Are the essays the same for this year? I don't see a Fall 2017 application on their website.

All info is available on the LSAC app. From the Supplemental Essays section:
[+] Spoiler
Essay One

Say more about your interest in the University of Michigan Law School. What do you believe Michigan has to offer to you and you to Michigan?

Essay Two

Describe your current hopes for your career after completing law school. How will your education, experience, and development so far support those plans?

Essay Three

If you do not think that your academic record or standardized test scores accurately reflect your ability to succeed in law school, please tell us why.

Essay Four

Describe a failure or setback in your life. How did you overcome it? What, if anything, would you do differently if confronted with this situation again?

Essay Five

Describe an experience that speaks to the problems and possibilities of diversity in an educational or work setting.

Essay Six

What do you think are the skills and values of a good lawyer? Which do you already possess? Which do you hope to develop?

Essay Seven

How might your perspectives and experiences enrich the quality and breadth of the intellectual life of our community or enhance the legal profession?

Essay Eight

Describe your educational experiences so far. What kinds of learning environments, teaching methods, student cultures, and/or evaluation processes lead you to thrive, or contrariwise, thwart your success?
