Just wanted to hear thoughts.

I think law school apps should be free for everyone. If someone ends up being admitted and paying a shit ton of tuition, they're getting more money and a lot of it, per student. I think that the least they could do is make the application free.

T14s would have to go through like 10,000 apps every year if they did that

True. But I still think that app fees and ther fees are a burden on some people who apply to lots of schools and don't get fee waivers and truly need them.

if you're low-income LSAC has a thing where you can apply to like 10 schools for free!

Sooo, now that the first app is open....what's the vibe on the academic awards/honors section as far as dean's list/latin honors? It feels silly to list those given that they're GPA based. But I guess I should? I have no other honors to speak of

I plan on listing my dean's list/latin honors. It seems like something that may not matter too much since it's implied by your GPA but it also can't hurt. Anything that even has the smallest chance to look good is worth mentioning in my book!

it wont do anything for you but its pretty standard to list them if you have them i think. i have mine on my resume, and i think we'll have to list them somewhere in the application form too

1. I very recently decided I'm going to apply this cycle, so I only recently changed my expected matriculation date from 2019 to 2017. Am I still going to get fee waivers from the likes of Chicago, NYU, UVA, etc., or am I out? If so, how long should I wait for them?

2. If I start my Chicago application now, will I somehow forfeit my ability to use a fee waiver there?

Oh shieeet welcome to the 2020 club.

There haven't been many fee waivers out yet so I doubt you "missed" any...the only ones in the top 20 so far are UCLA/Georgetown (methinks).

To partially answer your question: apparently UChi is stingy with the fee waivers...someone said that they didn't get one from UChi until January and it seems like that is the general vibe... so I am not going to hold my breath for one.

Anybody know if fee waivers carry over from a previous application cycle? I received waivers from the T14 except HYSB a couple years ago, but I didn't apply. Will I have to request them again for this cycle?

If you got one from Chicago, try logging into your LSAC account and applying to Chicago and see if you have one.

you can if LSAC grants you an exception to the rule for "extenuating circumstances"

Seems like it's worth writing a short addendum about, but don't go on my advice alone.

If there's a wide variance among the scores (particularly if the same extenuating circumstance which allowed for the exception also explained a relatively lower score) then I agree. If the scores are all pretty close I'm not sure it would make a difference

Checking in. Do you know if that delay in waivers is applicable to ppl they explicitly say are eligible to receive one (i.e. teach for america, military)?

So I have a Character and Fitness question...

Let's say, hypothetically, I was found responsible by my university a year ago for underage possession of alcohol at a football game. Let's also say that I never received a disciplinary sanction, but had to go to a seminar to learn about the dangers of alcohol. Let's also say that I never received a citation or ticket from the police, and was neither arrested nor detained.

How much do you think this'll affect my chances at top schools? I don't think I even have to disclose this for some schools, but for Chicago, for example, I think I do. Should I be worried about this? I'll submit an addendum explaining how stupid I was and how I've matured.

Please don't quote.

if there is a written record of the incident somewhere, then i think youre better off disclosing.

there are people who know about this better than i do though so grain of salt

I'm mostly wondering how much the ad-com will care when I disclose.
