Well this administration will likely be a good test of the effectiveness of checks and balances we all learned about. I'm not too worried just because I generally don't worry about things I have no control over.

I think the checks and balances should definitely hold, unless another justice dies

He'a taking advantage of every loophole out there though. Our system hasn't been tested gud much. So much is based on "traditional procedures" rather than explicit law idk I'm just literally terrified this is out of character for me lol

I wonder if there will be a big uptick in LSAT takers next year because of Trumpets.

And how many personal statements will be: "Trump, therefore law. Vive la résistance!"

This was more or less my Why Berkeley (I visited the day after the election)

chargers21 wrote:I'll throw my opinion out there on location. I'm terrified of being stuck having to work in NYC because of job availability and crippling t14 debt (if I don't get some big schollies). I would way rather be stuck in LA, which I put above NYC purely because of the weather, but I unless I go to a Cali school, that's likely not on the table (2 of my best current options are Cali schools). I am targeting the south, as in Charlotte/Atlanta, and would be happy in Texas, but I know these are tough markets to break into without going to regional schools. I'm from the midwest, and would like to leave but I am not entirely against staying so Chicago is above NYC on my list. I hate the weather, though.... So, in summary, my preferred locations go Charlotte, Atlanta, Texas cities, DC, Chicago, LA, NYC. I plan on generic/transactional big law. I'm really hoping I don't strike out on Charlotte and Atlanta, though. NYC just seems like all of the awful weather of the midwest, but I won't be anywhere near my family/current friends and everything will be expensive

Charlotte and Atlanta (Charlotte especially) are really hard to break into without ties.

And by the way, NYC weather is better than the Midwest. Still cold, but Chicago is the coldest of the big cities for sure

I like NYC, the culture and general atmosphere (although some places smell hahaha) but at the same time I like having space and everything there is so cramped. If they allowed lane filtering, that would be ace. Wish the rest of America would get on board with that.

I guess I'm different from most people here in that I really despise suburban living and can't wait to be in a big city. Granted, I'm younger than most people here so that may play a role (and I'm also single and not looking to settle down at all).

Same. Dated the same person for all of undergrad before breaking up with him. Grew up in a VERY small town, undergrad in a mid sized college town. I am so ready for a city and a change of pace!
