NYU c/o 2019 WAITLIST

Post by gopurp333 » Tue Apr 26, 2016 12:22 pm

Please post your stats and when you applied. Best of luck to all!

Attaching some numbers from 2014 THREAD, since I don't see any update from WL last year.

Last year (2015), first movement on 5/6.

Attaching some statistics from previous thread below:

Numbers from viewtopic.php?f=2&t=225363:

Percent of applicants remaining on waitlist eventually admitted, past thee cycles:
NYU: 32.2% (214 applicants on LSN did not withdraw from the waitlist, 69 eventually admitted)

Percent of applicants remaining on waitlist eventually admitted, 2012-2013 cycle:
NYU: 42.6% (61 applicants on LSN did not withdraw from the waitlist, 26 eventually admitted)

Percent of all waitlisted applicants who are eventually admitted, past three cycles:
NYU: 22% (314 waitlists on LSN, 69 eventually admitted)

Percent of acceptances coming from the waitlist, past three cycles:
NYU: 6.8% (69 of 1,019 acceptances on LSN came from the waitlist)

Percent of applicants waitlisted, past three cycles:
NYU: 19% (314 of 1,654 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)

Percent of waitlisted applicants who withdrew from the waitlist, past three cycles:
NYU: 31.8% (100 of 314 waitlisted applicants on LSN withdrew)

• During the past three cycles, 473 applicants on LSN at/above that cycle’s LSAT median and at/above that cycle’s GPA median were straight admits while 28 were waitlisted. Of those waitlisted applicants, 16 withdrew from the waitlist and 3 were eventually admitted (25% staying on waitlist were admitted).
• During the past three cycles, 231 applicants on LSN at/above that cycle’s LSAT median and below that cycle’s GPA median were straight admits while 77 were waitlisted. Of those waitlisted applicants, 21 withdrew from the waitlist and 31 were eventually admitted (55.4% staying on waitlist were admitted).
• During the past three cycles, 168 applicants on LSN below that cycle’s LSAT median and at/above that cycle’s GPA median were straight admits while 123 were waitlisted. Of those waitlisted applicants, 39 withdrew from the waitlist and 18 were eventually admitted (21.4% staying on waitlist were admitted).
• During the past three cycles, 50 applicants on LSN below that cycle’s LSAT median and below that cycle’s GPA median were straight admits while 79 were waitlisted. Of those waitlisted applicants, 22 withdrew from the waitlist and 14 were eventually admitted (24.6% staying on waitlist were admitted).
• During the past three cycles, 105 applicants on LSN URM were straight admits while 55 were waitlisted. Of those waitlisted applicants, 20 withdrew from the waitlist and 6 were eventually admitted (17.1% staying on waitlist were admitted).

Link to last year's thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=228034

Last year, first movement on 5/8 but they also received WL email earlier than us.

Also, haven't sent in LOCI yet because I have nothing new to add (out of school; working)

I emailed immediately after receiving the waitlist email stating that I still wanted my application to be considered for admissions. Is my status checker supposed to change/should I have gotten any form of confirmation?

Checking in! Does anyone know when we can expect some movement? Also does NYU interview or is it straight admits/deny/waitlist

Just wondering - who signed your Waitlist Confirmation emails? I received mine today, which was weird since I confirmed last week and my status checked updated last week as well.

Hey guys! Checking in, 3.3 178 applied in November. I had a quick question about the LOCI process, is it helpful to write one even if I don't have any new information to add to my application? I'm still at the same school and job I was when I applied. NYU is definitely my top choice though so I almost feel like I should write one to let them know that. I just don't know what other things to focus on in the letter. Thanks!

The general idea is not to bombard them with no new information. Did you give any indication in the past that NYU was your top choice?

Unfortunately no, I almost applied Early Decision but got talked out of it by family that didn't want me to commit to anything at that point. And I didn't write any sort of Why NYU either.

i dont think there'll be any movement next week cause seat deposit date on NYU website says "generally first Friday of May." In 2014 and 2015, first Friday of May was May 2 and May 1, respectively :(

On the class of 2019 NYU thread, it says May 1(Sunday)

hm.. not sure where OP got the info from. Possibly from an email notification that all admits received. If that's true, that makes me anxious for next week. Last year people went UR the week following deposit deadline, and received DLS (admit) a day or so after the UR date. Good luck, mi amigos!

do we know where we're expecting to see movement? I had assumed that we're just waiting for emails... or have we returned to constantly refreshing the status checker?

either way - nothing here.

Did anyone go from "Applicant Confirmed on WL" to UR?

Last year, this started on Monday 5/4. People got WL calls on Wednesday 5/6. I think we are looking at sometime this week, as Stanford and UVA already started pulling off WL.

So who would take NYU at sticker if you got in off the Waitlist? Where is everyone deposited at? I am not sure how to make polls, so if someone knows please let me know!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
