Columbia Reserve Group c/o 2019

Post by jalapenocheeseburger » Sun Apr 17, 2016 4:17 pm

I figured I would start this thread. I was put in the reserve group in early February and I am gonna ride it out. Columbia is my dream school. Let's beat the odds people! :D :D

Edit: I added links to previous threads relevant to Columbia's reserve group.

Checking in. I'm sure my odds of getting in are approximately zero but I'm riding it as long as they'll let me. Sent in my first LOCI over the weekend.

Checking in too. Not sure why I bothered to stay on reserve given the odds and my other choices, but it's early so I'll give it a short ride. Thanks for getting this started, good luck all!

Checking in.

Question: I imagine getting admitted off of Reserve means no financial aid money, correct?

From what I have been able to gather from previous threads, it is possible to receive aid off of the wait list though its unlikely.

Checking in as well. Just got put on reserve. Havn't sent in an LOCI, but will do so in the next few days. Any idea how much hope I should be holding on to?

Checking in-- Just heard back from Columbia today and honestly was expecting to be denied, so I'm excited! Columbia would definitely be a dream come true, so really just trying to stay hopeful!

Do you get any kind of email confirmation when you submit the reserve form? I did it a couple weeks ago but without email confirmation I'm now second guessing myself.

I didn't get a confirmation just for the form but afterwards I personally emailed the office letting them know I submitted the form and on what date because I'm paranoid, and they emailed me back saying they got it

So I filled out the reserve form. I am confused, they don't want a LOCI?

"If you have questions or concerns, or if you believe that materials already submitted need amplification, please forward a written statement to Dean Nkonye Iwerebon" - from the reserve letter and I took that as I can write them just not in excess

Do you guys send LOCI's as attachments or just as the email itself?

Checking in! I was put in the Reserve group in early Feb. I already sent in an addendum statement in February, but should I send in an LOCI? Is that overkill? Lol

From the data on LSN, I find that Columbia rarely rejects anyone. What do you think?

Here is some data on that from a few years back:

Percent of applicants waitlisted, past three cycles:
1. UVA: 46.4% (1016 of 2,189 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
2. Penn: 42.7% (672 of 1,575 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
3. Columbia: 41.7% (651 of 1,560 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
4. Chicago: 40% (545 of 1,363 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
5. Michigan: 33.6% (583 of 1,735 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
6. Harvard: 29.4% (383 of 1,303 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
7. Northwestern: 29.3% (333 of 1,135 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
8. Duke: 29% (501 of 1,729 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
9. Stanford: 26.4% (230 of 870 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
10. Cornell: 25% (315 of 1,262 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
11. Georgetown: 24.3% (550 of 2,265 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
12. NYU: 19% (314 of 1,654 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
13. Yale: 16.7% (98 of 587 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)
14. Berkeley: 6.8% (118 of 1,723 applicants on LSN were waitlisted)

It does look like they wait list a large percentage of their applicants.
