I think that's probably overkill at this point

Sort of scared that the number is still that high...

It definitely still has some admits who've committed elsewhere

Yeah, I guess my expectations for how quickly they process everyone are a bit off. People in last year's thread commented on how quick they were, but it didn't really drop off that much until the 15th (ish). Maybe it's more of a slow trickle as they go through individually.

Commitment reports go out starting May 15 so that makes sense (http://spiveyconsulting.com/blog/know-y ... es-part-i/).

For an update, 190 members in the group now (still including some commits elsewhere).

I don't think we'll see significant changes in the FB group until Monday, since tomorrow is the deadline for deposits for the last of the late admits.

Fun fact of the day: Harvard admits more people off their wait list than the entire class size of Stanford

When Asha says have everything ready for her to make a prompt financial offer, does she mean submit your FAFSA to Stanford? I included them in my FAFSA, but don't know if Stanford also does the needaid (forgot the name of the website). Could anyone provide some clarification on this? Does FASA suffice, or should I submit my financial aid information to Stanford via other means?

Pretty sure the Stanford site says to complete both FAFSA and NeedAccess

some helpful info from WL-admit from the past:

"I'd say about 20% of us got in off the waitlist (it seems to be around 30-40). Most are KJD. I don't think I know any waitlist admits who weren't some combination of KJD or non-Berkeley/Michigan public school. this number doesn't include everyone who was admitted off the WL because I know for a fact that some were later admitted off of H's waitlist and went there. A few people were admitted after they had started law school somewhere else. Someone did drop out after one day here and he wasn't replaced. The waitlist group is just as smart as the nonWL but we're definitely more "normal" (and I noticed that at the ASW, too). Like a lot more of just average, KJD w/ good grades and good LSAT scores.

In terms of housing, a few people I know who didn't click all of the housing options got placed off campus, but everyone who requested munger 9 month got it. Honestly, I would not request munger 9 month again, because I'm in a serious pickle wrt housing this fall, but if I'd been put in EV I would have a year-long lease and be able to renew it.

From what I can tell, getting off the waitlist requires good numbers and showing them you really want to attend. They do the same thing where you "technically" aren't admitted till you accept the offer."

ETA: pls no quote

Wow, that's a seriously informative post; thanks for sharing!

On an unrelated note- this waiting is killing me... I can't believe we probably have to wait at least 3 weeks, if not over a month, before hearing anything

Also, is that quote implying the waitlist group all gets together somehow?

There are still some people committed elsewhere in the FB group. Plus H's WL has started moving and people committed to S might jump ship because of that.

This. This is anectodal, but a Facebook friend of mine announced a couple weeks ago that he got accepted to S. On Wednesday, he said he just got into Harvard as well, and was actually going to be going there. So don't lose hope, waitlisters.

more interesting info from previous S WL admits:
(Different from previous anon)

"TBQMFH, I know how miserable/frustrating being on the WL can be, but at this point (after 9 months of being a 1L, with another 2 weeks to go) I kind of wish I had never gotten off the Stanford WL. I cannot emphasize enough how much I despise the quarter system, and there are so many things about SLS sold as pluses that have actually turned out to be awful. Also, coming in off the WL, you'll likely end up with an academic year lease for on-campus housing, and judging by the housing lottery results for next year (announced yesterday), you won't get back into on-campus housing as a 2L. The cost of unsubsidized housing in the area is absolutely insane, and it's only getting higher.

So, if you don't get off the WL, try to think of it as a blessing in disguise. My friends at HLS (HLR write-on theft notwithstanding) are, as a whole, much happier."
