Don't like 10 people get in off the waitlist? I'm sure S would accomodate them

Also, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was just a priority deadline. You should still be able to apply after that date. And 1Ls may still be given preference after the deadline.

Someone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure it's more than that. There were 11 people who reported getting accepted off of the waitlist last year on LSN, and I'm sure there were people who got in and aren't on there.

They reserve enough housing spots for wait listed students. All 1Ls are guaranteed some sort of on campus housing if they want it. It may or may not be your first choice, but you'll get something.

As far as notification of receipt of the form, they notified me by email because I didn't send in my form and asked if I wanted to stay on the list. I was able to stay on by just replying. So don't worry too much, they'll make sure to follow up.

So did you get off the WL last year? What housing did you end up in?

The bolded isn't quite right. All 1Ls are guaranteed *some* sort of housing, but quite a few people who get in off the waitlist end up in the subsidized off-campus apartments, not in any of the on-campus options. That said, I got a place in Munger off the WL (but I got in very early in the summer, and IIRC the second-round housing lottery gave you higher priority the earlier you applied-but I also know plenty of people who got in later in the summer who still got a Munger quad).

Also, way more than 10 people get in off the waitlist (unless they end up having an insanely high yield this year). It seemed like almost a third of our class got in off the WL (judging by FB group numbers), so don't get too discouraged.

Checking in! I'm going to try to get out there and visit and decide if I'm staying on the WL then.

People who have sent back their decision to remain on the waitlist - where did you establish your level of commitment on the form?

I really wish Stanford were as quick to get back to their WL as Harvard and Yale. Seeing movement in May is so much better than having to potentially wait until the end of June

Is there any data available for the Stanford wait list?

While there is info on past cycles, I feel like each year is a different beast- with a different timeline and different results. Last year they started picking people off the WL as early as June 5th, whereas before it was usually much later. I keep hearing everyone is behind this year, so there's really no telling when movement could start. As for how many get off the waitlist, that really depends on the yield. So, there's really no telling until the deposit deadline come up, which for most people is the 1st but the latest round of acceptances have until the 15th. Once we get a sit rep of how many people are still in the facebook group, we can start to make some inferences. Last year, the group dropped to around 130 after the deadline, and there was significant movement. There's really no telling at this point what to expect.

Thanks! I was hoping the admission staff would have done what they did in previous years and remove those haven't deposited and whose deadlines have past. I was hoping to see that number as a gauge for how the outlook is for the waitlisted folks. I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
