Your radar could be functioning perfectly well, and yet you would still be a condescending, egregiously obnoxious poster.

Nope.
Rejections are definitely in full swing. I'm praying for maybe even a reserve?

Last year, reserve = waitlist and hold = deferred.
Does your letter mention a month during which they'll be reviewing you?

Yes, it says I will be reviewed again in May. Is that how reserve/wl worked last year?Last year, reserve = waitlist and hold = deferred.

Joonbug, what are you numbers. I am also in at NYU and I haven't heard anything from Columbia yet. I call my parents every day to see what's in the mail.

kt,
Sounds like a waitlist. Deferred people were reviewed again in early April last year.

Yep, I guess it's a waitlist then. The letter does mention about re-reviewing me in May. Oh well.
My stats are 3.8/ 166&175. I'm pretty sure I can get a full-ride to Fordham or BU. And regarding Rossum's statement, I do plan on becoming a lawyer in NYC and I came to a quantitative conclusion that a full-ride at Fordham will be more beneficial to me than no money at NYU. Too many of my friends who are Fordham graudates kick ass in NYC, just as well if not more than the NYU graduates. That is why I came to a conclusino that the full-ride factor from Fordham will definitely out-benefit the NYU's prestige factor. Certainly you cannot call another person an idiot for making this decision rossum.

joonbug: for people who don't have contacts like you do, I think NYU is the clear choice.

stavand and joonbug-
I'm in the same boat as you guys... 173/3.9, complete the first week in December and not a word since.
Any idea about whether we should be taking this as a good, bad, or neutral sign? Is there any significance?

I'm 171, 3.85. Haven't heard since I went complete in October. I presume a WL or deferral should be here soon enough. I really thought I had a good shot at Columbia.USCtrojan86 wrote:stavand and joonbug-

Re: Columbia Reserve
Thanks man...I hope so (it's one of my absolute top picks), but honestly I wouldn't be too shocked to get dinged. You're going to get in dude.
I just think back on the 180/4.0 who got dinged at Stanford last year, and the fact that there are no shortage of "WTF... in-at-H, out-at-C type?!" type stories on LSN (not that I'm really expecting much past an optimistic WL from H at this point).
I hope all of us 171+/3.8+'s get in, but the bottom line is that there are plenty of 4.4's who don't make the cut at Columbia every season, and the whole damn process seems so seriously arbitrary/random within schools like HYS and C/C (assuming non-auto admit status) that sometimes it's downright maddening.
But yeah. Good luck to you, d00d...are you still waiting to hear as well?
stephen-
Don't give up yet...i'm keeping hope alive, and you should too. Judging by LSN from past cycled, Columbia does seem to have a fairly random acceptance pattern.

Re: Columbia Reserve
Reserve letter today.
I was hoping for one of these, because I knew I wouldn't get in directly.
Are people planning to write up LOCIs? Or is the Reserve Response they mention basically a chance to say what you would have said in the LOCI?

Re: Columbia Reserve
Its funny. Columbia and Harvard are the only schools that haven't let me in yet. I was always thinking that I would prefer NYU to Columbia anyway, but now that they are playing hard to get, I really want to get into Columbia.
I went complete in October, and have heard nothing. Not a good sign. I thought I had a real shot at Columbia. Not that I'm an auto-admit by any means, but the LSAC GPA Calculator had me at a 70% at NYU, so i figured it would be similar to Columbia, and NYU gave me an admit right away (early December).

Nevermind, the Reserve Response is a yes/no thing. Are people planning to write up LOCIs? Or is the Reserve Response they mention basically a chance to say what you would have said in the LOCI?
So I guess I'll be drafting up a LOCI soon.

Re: Columbia Reserve
I got 'served today, as well. 171, 3.59. Like many others here, I'm already accepted to NYU, but I would have liked to have to opportunity to choose between the two top NY schools.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
