Well, if no one is staying on than it's worth it!

I mean make other plans in case you don't get in, but I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Columbia next year! Stick it out!

I didn't apply to COlumbia, but this whole "reserve" concept is new, just like Hold was for me this year.

What is the difference between reserve and waitlist for Columbia, and what are the chances of getting admitted off of "reserve"?

This is ridiculous. LSAC needs to regulate. Schools are blatantly abusing the admissions process in order to protect their stats, and applicants are paying for it in drawn out waits that can, absurdly, drag on into August, until the day class begins. I paid $65-$80 to apply to each school and that should entitle me to a timely decision at least, if not also a responsive admissions staff. All we have to do is create enough noise to get a NYTimes/Chronicle of Higher Ed article and we should make progress. At least the WSJ blog. Who's with me?

Geez you're really demanding a lot here. I didn't apply to UVA and I already withdrew from Vandy.

In any case, got the Columbia letter today...I'm in reserve with everyone else in this thread. I'm not staying on it though. The scholarship at Georgetown is too tempting and I think that I'll be happier there than I would have been at Columbia anyway (culture of DC and such).

Best of luck to everyone though...hope that they let a bunch of you in!

Can anyone send me the address that they give you to send additional materials to? I am at work and don't have the letter with me.

The dude said my application won't be reviewed until the end of May. I see that expediency isn't Columbia's forte.

Got my second reserve letter yesterday. Was expecting a rejection since I didn't send a LOCI. I think someone on this thread described the three reserve stages as "are you patient, really patient, or really really patient."

Second reserve already? Does that mean they've made their first round of WL offers? Seems a bit early.

I just got my reserve letter today; I was held until now, and it was still first reserve. I don't have much of a chance (169/3.75), but I'm staying on the waitlist anyhow. And I'm glad I'm not rejected - yet.

I got the reserve letter by e-mail. First reserve, if that makes a difference. I'm staying on.

Yeah, I apologize for the misinfo. Mixed up the words. The first letter was a hold (which is what I thought this thread was about), and now I'm on reserve, which is.....a WL?
