Had my meeting the other day. No real information, definitely not an interview. Maybe not a waste of time, but definitely pro forma.

exactly how i felt about mine but from what I have seen with the WL--> accept numbers theyre still leaning to high LSAT scores which freaks me outusn26 wrote:Had my meeting the other day. No real information, definitely not an interview. Maybe not a waste of time, but definitely pro forma.

Really? Is that on LSN? Because on TLS I feel like I've seen several (5+) high-GPA/low-LSAT combos, and one high LSAT splitter taken at most.BillClinton Jr wrote:exactly how i felt about mine but from what I have seen with the WL--> accept numbers theyre still leaning to high LSAT scores which freaks me outusn26 wrote:Had my meeting the other day. I really just wish there was a good idea of how many folks were even on this waitlist still
Granted, Spivey did say its still early for WL folks and he expects the dam to break soon so I will take some fake sense of happiness from that lol

They seemed pretty confident on the 20ish admits. And I will say it seems like most people will have made plans, so the waitlist competition might not be all that fierce if the dam does break. Maybe that's just wishful thinking, though.

I hope you're right. I saw you were down for Georgetown in the Destinations Thread; is that just a preliminary thing or you holding out for Penn awhile longer?usn26 wrote:They seemed pretty confident on the 20ish admits. Very preliminary. Thinking I'll just ride this til August. Duke/Columbia/UVA/Penn are the top choices in that order, but would jump at any.BillClinton Jr wrote:I hope you're right. thing is that 20 admits sounds like a lot but it's still far less than the average for t14 acceptances off the summer WL.
looking at historical data, which UPENN themselves used to guestimate that "20 figure", this means that around 5% of nonwithdrawn waitlisted candidates will be accepted.

Re: Penn Law Waitlist c/o 2018
I thought Penn usually had a lighter hand with the waitlist (i.e. 5-10 give or take) historically, perhaps as a consequence of its heavy YP. Plus, if they're quoting 20 that may be a conservative estimate, especially if the floodgates open.still wrote:thing is that 20 admits sounds like a lot but it's still far less than the average for t14 acceptances off the summer WL.

But I don't really know. All we can do is wait and hope.

Re: Penn Law Waitlist c/o 2018
Hey everyone - so I went for the proffered "non-evaluative meeting" on Tuesday, was called to gauge my interest on Wednesday, admitted on Friday, and, after a weekend of utter heartbreak and number-crunching, had to turn it down today - because they're out of merit aid, and were firm on that even after I tried to negotiate. I'm still kind of in shock that I turned it down, but I think I have to be financially smart on this one.
So I wanted to let you all know what I heard about merit aid (I mean, maybe they're offering it to other candiates, but idk); since there's been a debate on this, I wanted to let you know that in my opinion the interview absolutely DID lead to my getting admitted, and I don't think anyone who has the chance to do it should skip out; and of course, I wanted to let you all know that there should be at least one more spot available. Good luck to everyone ツ

Just got another email stating that 5-15 more offers could be made and there will be another update in August.
This is getting stressful man. I have to move in a few weeks and I'm still on 5 wait lists. I wish this could get wrapped up faster.

In off the waitlist! They called Thursday and asked about my interest, what I liked about Penn, and to tell me what they could offer in terms of need based financial aid (no merit aid for waitlist). Then they called Friday to tell me I was in! I am over the moon, to say the least. If you'd like my numbers PM me. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Im assuming that Im in the same situation as someone just called me to gauge my interest....I mean it could be the opposite outcome all together but alas I'll never know. Gonna have to tell them Im already decided on vanderbilt.Chrisob617 wrote:In off the waitlist! Just got a mass update. Spots/hopes seem to be dwindling. Oh well. Hopefully there's room for a few more off the wait list.Fighttotheend wrote:Hey guys, any update or new information this week?

Re: Penn Law Waitlist c/o 2018
was it a mass update, the update I got seemed phrased rather personally
anyways it said the waitlist is now VERY small but they only anticipate 1-7 more offers.
i hope my visit has some sway
