+1, plan on depositing elsewhere tho. The wait list stats do not look promising, but here's to hoping!

You have until April 30th right? I mean, Summer Start at Michigan is great but Penn is well...PENN! Don't envy your tough decision at all congrats and goodluckvm18 wrote:Checking in...waitlist.

Checking in. Probably won't ride it too long, but it's a shame because I really wanted to go to Penn.

How often are you guys sending updates to Penn Law, stating that you're still interested, that you have an internship, etc.

Re: Penn Law Waitlist c/o 2018
I was waitlisted a few weeks ago but just recently sent a Why Penn essay. I don't think I'll send anything else - accepting the spot on the waitlist showed them you're interested, and more than one or two updates over the summer I think would be pestersome. But that's just my completely uninformed $.02.yayfriendship wrote:How often are you guys sending updates to Penn Law, stating that you're still interested, that you have an internship, etc.

Trust me, I am too! I've been sending a LOCI each month and every time I just want to say, "Damnit please let me in! You're basically my only option now and I need to quit my job ASAP."yayfriendship wrote:Sigh...I am so bad at waiting..................

Re: Penn Law Waitlist c/o 2018
Opinions here:
I'd love the chance of an offer by Penn Law ( only T14 school that I have ties from since my parents are from Philly area)
Do i actually increase my chances of getting Yield Protected at Penn with a GPA increase. I can graduate now in the 3.5-3.6 range ...but likely staying another semester to finish in the 3.6-3.7 range ( mid 3.6's is best case)
myLSN seems to say i have a better chance at YP with this increase ( taking LSAT after UG, but have exposure to it and scoring 170-172 recently...although for the sake of this discussion only talk about GPA since I have no official LSAT to go off of )

Re: Penn Law Waitlist c/o 2018
In my opinion, and of course this only anecdotal with a bit of data from LSN and TLS, YP seems to be for those that are over and beyond median at some schools (the folks that they don't think will actually attend), high stat URM folks (same case as before) and oftentimes in the case of a strong splitter. Obviously it is hard to determine if someone is YP on a waitlist or just not an incredibly strong applicant so they go ahead and waitlist them for later.Broncos15 wrote:Opinions here:

I think you will also see a lot of Waitlist people admittedly have weak points in their applications. So, it is hard to make that judgement regarding you possibly being YP without an actual LSAT score and more info. In theory, if you have a 3.6/170 and the rest of your application is strong you should be relatively fine for Penn based on what we see this year; maybe not much merit money but at least you'd have a shot to be in.
I personally say stick it out for for higher GPA, it can't hurt. Plus more time to study for the LSAT and hit that 173-175 possibly.

Anyone know if there's any possibility of getting money off the wait list? Or is it safe to assume that everyone coming off the wait list will be at sticker?

Re: Penn Law Waitlist c/o 2018
fyi a friend of mine (who is WL'd) got a call today to "gauge his/her continued interest in Penn." Maybe this means they are starting to look for people to pull off.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
