Vast majority of movement in May - referring to Harvard specifically here, or is this a general consensus for anywhere in t14??

Just Harvard but I think a lot of T14 too

Not seeing any movement from the 12 open spots posted earlier, so I'm guessing that's the "extra" that they factored in so the last person to register didn't have to take whatever one was left.

I did a few days later (sent by email)

+1

Thanks for the replies. Thinking about mailing a LOCI directly to JS today or tomorrow. Did anyone send it in by mail and get a response?

Conclusions: More people waitlisted this year. The quality of the waitlist is lower this year.

Any thoughts or ideas why this is?

Edit:

23% of this year's WLd applicants are at or above 173 LSAT (H's median), while last year that number was 42%.
Similarly, 33% of this year's WL'd applicants are at or above 3.87 GPA (H's median), when last years it was 41%.

great analysis from comma split. this is probably our best (albeit imperfect) indicator of the WL. bigger with lower stats.

The quality of the applicant pool could be lower.

Based on last year's timeline I would say that JS1bs and the first WL JS2s will probably start next week.

agreed. because interviews go all the way until at least thursday, i feel like then early next week it's fair to assume JS1bs and then late next week JS2s. may 20th is my guess

If we make the assumption that they are following the same script as last year (source thread OP)

First JS2s reported May 15th (went to both those with JS1bs on the 13th and those with post-WL JS1s)

With a First WL JS1 reported on May 7, wouldn't we then have first JS1b's May 14th which is Thursday this week?

I'm kind of curious to see if they do follow the same script and do JS1bs because of that email they sent out earlier. I think the email was meant to serve the same purpose as the JS1b--to make sure WL admits matriculate.

thinking this too. It would be interesting to know how effective that email was. Id bet it trimmed off some dead weight

That would be pretty weak to use that email for that purpose. It can easily be ignored by applicants on the fence. But I recently read a blog from an ex AO which implied that it was a pain to go through a waitlist to determine who to accept once medians have been secured. In that case she often reached out to the applicant most likely to attend/ the candidate whose day she wanted to make.

If that is true then it seems like a LOCI could be important

Hi y'all long time lurker here finally caving to the guilt of not adding my two cents. I was offered an interview for this week on the 7th. I was previously wait listed without an interview. Fingers crossed!

but they're still conducting interviews on thursday... last year there was a much shorter timeline between JS1 requests and actually conducting the interviews. a couple days after the interviews were finished, js1bs came out. i think that's a more likely 'script' they follow rather than the date of the month.

Lurker, had my JS1 yesterday. Questions were pretty much what I expected, just elaborating on work and undergrad experience and why I want to go to law school. Also had a brief section at the end where they discussed the waitlist process and basically reiterated that if at any point I don't think I would go to Harvard I should withdraw, but said they should be moving fairly quickly with decisions. Good luck to all the JS1s this week!

Likewise. It seems they've ditched the homework task from last year

to those K-JDs are you emailing an unofficial copy of your transcripts along with submitting them to LSAC?

Had JS1 earlier today, here's what I was asked:

mostly resume questions about post grad jobs

what my law interests were

if i could change anything from college what would it be

asked where i deposited currently

had a spiel about conditions of the waitlist (only stay on if you will attend stuff)

could only get one question in before the 15min was up

thought it went well, interviewer was pleasant but seemed to be in a rush. hope this helps!

Had my JS1 this morning. Went very well- got all the same questions as everyone else. Let's hope they get back to us fast-- I want to hear yes or no so I can stop worrying about this! Good luck everyone who is waiting and to those with JS1s...

last week JS1b's started tomorrow, and first JS2 reported on what would be this Friday, but I'm guessing this action will happen next week since were a little behind.

First JS2 wave which was on the 15th last year was almost entirely JS1b/prewaitlist JS1 ppl

Looks like most of the post WL JS1s got their JS2s in the second JS2 wave on May 28th

I wonder if/how the "where have you deposited" question influences the decision...
my guess is not at all, but then why ask? possibly internal data collection, but i still don't see much value in it.
