was that the last wave? Last year the later May wave was the last big wave, with a small trickle of JS1s throughout the summer. So I guess there is always a chance, but you have the best shot if you get a JS1 during May (going on last year's model). The thinker wrote:was that the last wave? Can I ask where you found the model you were referring to? I found one that had general admit statistics for JS1 -> WL and WL -> JS1, but none that were broken down by when in the cycle you got your JS1 after being wait listed.Four Winds wrote:Last year the later May wave was the last big wave, with a small trickle of JS1s throughout the summer. Anyone ever heard of Harvard offering a waitlist applicant a deferred acceptance to the next years class if they got some work experience? Someone I know is telling me they received that but I'm pretty skeptical of it.

No. Waitlist offers are good only for the coming year. You can't defer them.Jakobe wrote:Anyone ever heard of Harvard offering a waitlist applicant a deferred acceptance to the next years class if they got some work experience? So we've had Post-WL JS1's. Next week we get JS1b's?

Is your friend a current Harvard College undergrad? There's a program like that for them.Jakobe wrote:Anyone ever heard of Harvard offering a waitlist applicant a deferred acceptance to the next years class if they got some work experience? Also, congrats to all the new JS1s!!!

For some reason only four pre WL JS1s reported any decision on the spreadsheet, probably have to go through the thread to see about how many got in

I think I remember reading if you get a JS1 off the WL, your odds are much higher than if you had a JS1 prior to the WL.

Well so far the waitlist timeline has roughly followed the same pattern as last year so next week for JS1bs sounds like a pretty good guess to me!Eladriel wrote:No. Waitlist offers are good only for the coming year. My apologies, I didn't mean to imply that strong of a connection - my comment was more to illustrate that by virtue of the fact that the vast majority of the post-WL JS1s are given out during May, for those of us without JS1s our chances to get to a JS2 drop dramatically if we don't get an interview invite this month.morningstar wrote:Can I ask where you found the model you were referring to? Was there a wave of JS1's in June or was late may the last big one? I know there were JS2 in June but were they late May JS1?Four Winds wrote:My apologies, I didn't mean to imply that strong of a connection - my comment was more to illustrate that by virtue of the fact that the vast majority of the post-WL JS1s are given out during May, for those of us without JS1s our chances to get to a JS2 drop dramatically if we don't get an interview invite this month.morningstar wrote:Can I ask where you found the model you were referring to?
